Need some new ones, but I abuse them so don't want to spend more than $50.

Don't know if you want bluetooth or not but I've been using LG tone bluetooth earphones for over a year. I tried my wife's LG 730's and was pretty amazed by the sound quality for the price. I bought the pro's for about 50 bucks at best buy and I love them. They may seem awkward but their portion that sits on the neck not bothered me. I use them weight lifting, cycling and running and they have never bothered me or broken. Dont know what you mean by abuse but they can pretty much withstand any exercise activity without being a distraction.

here they are for 39.99. If I ruin a pair, I don't feel so bad about getting a new set when I use these. They really do sound great too. I'm guessing the housing that goes around the neck part is able to house hardware that improves performance vs earphones that are more minimalist.

I used the plantronics bluetooth earbuds that are made for athletic training and they are not only annoying in their design (cant turn you head without an earbud popping out) but they don't sound as good either.

I use these Monoprice 8320s but coupled with these Comply T-400 earphone tips.
With the stock tips, they're not good. With the comply tips, the comfort and sound quality dramatically increase.

that's why I'll never mention them without also mentioning the Comply foam tips. It's a package deal and must be considered as such for pricing/quality comparisons. Still, for $20-25 with the tips, it's very solid.
