Basically wanted to do an annual refresh of this thread.
Seemed that consensus was TCL had the best, but was curious if anything has changed on that front. Thanks.

Bought the Series 6 65" about 5 months ago now and it has been great. Very nice picture for the price.

If you want a quantum dot TV and can be patient, you can find the Vizio P Series Quantum for around $1200.

When/where can I find a deal like that?

You have to keep an eye out. It was $1400 around thanksgiving everywhere. Then after new year one placed had a short sale at $1200. I can't remember if it was best buy or costco.
But if there is no rush, I think that price will be rather common soon.

I agree on the Sony. I was trying to stay around there but also wanted the most for my money. I ordered a Sony 65" X900F through greentoe. 1421$ (tax & shipped). I'd definitely recommend checking on greentoe and throw in a low ball offer and see how low the companies are willing to go.

I bought a 65" Samsung from costco recently. I have a bunch of of samsung devices so it fits in my home automation nicely (smartthings, samsung phone, etc).

TCL R617. I did a ton of research around November. Decided to go with the TCL. It's been wonderful. Best all around for the price. Check rtings for reviews and comparisons.

I paid 300 for my 60 inch Hisense. I'm thrilled with it. It just shows that you don't have to spend a ton to get value. While there's little doubt that the higher priced sets have a slightly sharper picture or a frill here or there. Is it really worth hundreds more? I'm happy with this choice.

Vizio TCL comparison
Vizio P series is the better TV in almost every category. But the TCL is 2nd and still a good TV. Especially if you get it at $720 as above it’s a no brainer.
Can find the Vizio for $950-100

Ya I bought a $2200 xbr900e 65inch and I can’t even really tell the difference between it and a set $1000 cheaper. Will not make that mistake again.
