I currently have directv and internet, I went to the at&t store and she told me all about at&t tv. O told her I have 5 TV's, she said that I could have 3 boxes and 3 streams per box to save money I could stream on the other 2 Amazon TV's. She couldn't help me cancell DirecTV though so I just called at&t on Thursday to switch to att tv. The lady said she was a manager and was extremely helpful. I told her I have 5 TV's, and she said that there was a 3 stream limit per box, so I could get 3 boxes and stream on the 2 other TV's. I asked her over and over to clarify and she did, over and over. So the next day we get our boxes in. Today, I get a notice on my TV that says I have to stop another stream to start the one on my current tv. I thought that was weird so I chatted with at&t online. This guy told me that in fact you can only have 3 streams TOTAL on your account. So I called, obviously annoyed. They transferred me to the loyalty Dept. I told him the issues and he confirmed that you can only have 3 streams total. I argued with him for about 30 minutes cause what that original manager did was fraud. She sold me a service that didn't exist. This guy told me that in his experience his dept. was the only Dept trained on at&t tv and the others didn't know much about it. He tried to get me to add another account which would come out to how much I was currently paying for directv, but go up to almost 300 after a year (for 2 att tv accounts and internet). So I cancelled directv/att altogether and Xfinity is coming next Monday to install their services.

Simply put, the employees don't know anything, they just want you to buy their service. Who is gonna sign up for a 2 year contract on a streaming service that only lets you have 3 streams. People who need more than 3 streams are the market for these contracts. Cord cutters aren't gonna want a 2 yr contract. At&t wants to have it both ways, and this service is going to fail miserably.

People shite on Cox a lot in this area and most of it is probably justified. That being said, I work in IT and deal with AT&T and Cox on a regular basis and AT&T is far worse to deal with.

I couldn't believe how bad it was. AT&T TV is going to fail so hard.

I told them the same thing.

It's just not worth the hassle. I don't know what's so hard about it. All they have to do is provide decent service. The price doesn't even matter that much if they would just be honest about shite and do what they say they will do. Instead, they just keep turning the screws until you have to deal with their customer service, and then that nightmare drives customers away.

Are you 60 years old?

No offense, but the plan clearly states what is included

Why do you need 5 AT&T Now streams going on at once? You could just use your AT&TV now credentials and log into specific apps to stream live if you aren’t channel surfing

This isn’t an AT&T problem. You’re going to deal with ignorant people everywhere.

Clearly on the website

Because an employee was uninformed?

You can’t have more than 1 Stream on a box. Wtf

Why would you believe this? A 3 stream limit on a single box? No. That’s not how it works

This works sometimes, other times not. They can check on the back end and kick you out if you're using the same credentials for more than 3 streams.

Yes it is. If they aren't going to give employees the information they need, they shouldn't have those employees sell the services.

This is very basic, and it hits at the root of all of AT&T's problems. This goes all the way to the top. They just don't give a frick about the customer.

No, because nearly ALL of their employees are uninformed. And they allow these employees to sell services that they are uninformed about. AT&T is too busy buying up companies that they can't run and lobbying for favorable laws to give a shite about customer service.

I'm pretty sure OP knows you can't watch more than one thing at a time on a single box. That's why he got the recommended 3 boxes for his 3 streams. I think the confusion is because the AT&T rep thought he could stream on the other 2 TVs via channel apps and his credentials, just like you are suggesting. That doesn't work.

You can do this

Are you sure? I think you need to do some more experiments.

With most streaming services, if you are using all of your allotted streams, if you log into a channel app with your streaming credentials, you're going to have to stop watching on another stream.

Sometimes it takes a minute, and sometimes they don't seem to "catch" it at all, but that's how it usually works.

FYI the stream limit will be removed soon. I work in media/tv biz and have been testing this product since July.

I was told it’s going to 6-8 range by May by a very good source

We have ATTnow and tried Youtube TV and the UI was way better/faster. However, YTTV was missing some channels and works out to a cheaper price. So, in that regard I wouldn't say its a scam. It's just that the corporate culture of utilities doesn't lend itself well to good customer service.

I just cancelled uverse after 5+ years and while it needlessly took 20+ minutes to complete, the guy I talked to was awesome. Told him I was canceling because I'm just going to stream and he all but flat out said "yeah I don't blame you, I stream everything too."

At&t tv looks like a big cable company trying to frick customers even more just through streaming now. It's a joke.

Years ago I had the same issue with their phone Dept. I was still on grandfathered unlimited and had bought daughter her own acct on a track phone. 10 months later I just decided to go to their Next plan and add daughter to that acct. Lady at store told me there was no way to do it and I had to buy daughters contract out and THEN I could add her to mine. Then told me they couldn't cancel the acct (after I paid the buyout) and that I had to call to cancel. This was after about an hour of asking her if she was sure and I thought she was wrong etc. Called to cancel that evening and when they asked why I gave the reason from their sales rep. Guy on the phone was awesome. Basically told me that store lady didn't have a clue. He refunded the buyout comped my first 2 months on new plan, then bumped me from 20g data to 50g. Only stayed with them for about a year longer due to their coverage going to shite in our area so went to Verizon for $40 a month cheaper. I do have to say though I have had their gigablast internet for couple of years now and have not had 1 issue.

ATT TV is definitely a scam but not for the reasons you stated. ATT TV is the exact same thing at ATT TV Now except you have to sign a 2 year contract, prices got up during year 2, and you have to pay equipment and other miscellaneous fees.

Well they are AT&T, and DTV used to be a great company, one of the best when it came to customer service, and that all went to shite once AT&shite bought them out b/c they have the worst customer service of any major business in this country and it's not even close.

I was lied to by DTV a few years ago. Told me they'd give me the movie channels for free for a year, since that is what Cox was offering me. 4 months later it shows up on my bill. I call and they say they don't offer a year for free for HBO/SHowtime/Cinemax/Starz. I said i know, i've been a DTV customer for over a decade, but this woman told me she'd match the offer, and it's the only reason i went with DTV when i bought this new house. I asked her to confirm this 1 year offer multiple times. I guess i should have made her email me that offer. They offered to take $5 off a month, i told them to just cancel everything. they said i couldn't, i said i don't give a shite i'm not paying you anything else. They finally cancelled and sent a final bill for like $300 with cancellation fees. Never paid it. Isn't on my credit report. I've been streaming ever since for the last 4 or so years.

I will never do any business with AT&shite for anything, tv, phone, internet, or anything else they want to get involved with.
As someone else said, if they paid me for their services, i'd still tell them to eat shite.
