it is great up until you realize you cant use a separate router.

you can passthrough or setup as APs but they are throttled. I have a long thread on here about it with links to posts where people say they got it working. I tried for days to do it and never got it working. I believe these people were lying.

It comes with two extenders. I don't need a seperate firewall per se.

They could be extenders if they use the same SSID. Not sure yet.

OK, was unsure what you were talking about but I think you are saying turning the modem from NAT to bridge mode to pass the wan interface to another router/firewall.

Looking at this

Appears to me by default AT&T wants to block certain ports.

Pretty much the same for the fiber options from Ting (but they have limited rollouts)

I'm lost by Ramrods post. Why couldn't you use a router with it?

Obviously I'm interested in ditching the Cox too

I'm in 70001 and I can get fiber so it must be per neighborhood. Do you have those white poles with the orange tops? ATT laid cable down like a year ago. I figured it had to be fiber, why else tear up the sidewalks to put this all down.

this is what I see when I put in my address:

Digging into this a bit more it appears to be this device and the vendor calls it a mesh as opposed to AT&T calling it an extender

LINK

AirTies Mesh – establishes a coordinated multi-AP Wi-Fi Network, extending Wi-Fi coverage in the home.
Extend Wi-Fi – press WPS buttons. AP added to Wi-Fi network and coverage extended further.
Personalize Wi-Fi – change settings for one AP; network follows.
Resilient Wi-Fi – disconnect one AP, Wi-Fi network survives.
Steer Wi-Fi – maximize device connection speeds & overall home Wi-Fi capacity through steering to different nodes and Wi-Fi bands/channels.
Plug and Play - pre-paired pack of devices.
Visualize Wi-Fi – display what is happening in the Wi-FI Network.
Monitor Wi-Fi – collect Wi-Fi history for later analysis.
Manage Wi-Fi – interop with operator grade management servers.

While streaming HD videos over 5GHz with the super-fast 802.11ac technology, Air4920 also provides the best possible wireless performance for all your legacy wireless devices over 2.4GHz – at the same time from Air 4920!

Operator grade video streaming capable. It can stream multiple HD video channels, deal with both multicast and unicast traffic and prioritize the TV service over general traffic.

It was $80 a week and a half ago, I would call them.

It should be (supposed to be) 1gb/1gb. If I get in the 950/950 range I would say it was a successful install.
