I know i've said these words before, but I believe that people knowing how much they are paying for the phone will help competition in the long run

if a top-tier smartphone is released at a 400 dollar price point instead of 649+, it would be a game changer

before these new plans, if you went and got the "free" smartphone upgrade and got some type of crappy smartphone, ATT was making more money off of you most likely

now that people will see what they are paying for their phones, it should help price point, and it will also likely boost the used/refurb phone market

I'm paying about $50 less per month for 5 smart phones on my AT&T plan and we switched to the NEXT plan on 3 of those and the other two have not been changed yet. We can argue all day long, but my monthly bill is lower and I have the same exact plan I had before.

It ultimately depends on which phone you get. You need to factor that into your math.

Where is this plan at on ATT? 2 lines every way I try to add it up from them with my own phones runs 120+

Sorry for the late reply, but like I said, att becomes more economical with more users, so you are probably still in the best position for 2 ppl...plus that factors in a 2x data bonus for existing customers, so you might not see that amount when you shop.

Is the only way to purchase an unlocked iphone 6 through t-mobile?

No I believe you can get one through apple or ATT. You have the option to choose the locked or unlocked version at checkout, but you only have the option at full price.

I may be thinking of the moto x though, as I have shopped them both recently

Anyone ever tried to use the "I could switch to Cricket or StraightTalk" ploy with ATT over pricing of their plans and had any luck?

True. iPhone 6+, 6 and a S5 are the new ones...two iPhone 5's are the old ones.

Cricket is owned by ATT so doubt any luck there.
