Hisense, the people who bought Sharp, even released a curved TV this year.

I did not notice any side-by-side differences when shopping for a TV, so I figured go with a flat screen.
Looked in two stores that had different lighting before deciding.

It's for immersion. And also needs a big TV to see/feel the difference.

They recommend a curved TV at 70" or bigger, similar to the curved screens movie theaters have used for decades to enhance the experience.

We have a nice one in the upstairs living room.

It is pretty nice --- however, there is with out question a noticeable glare versus a flat screen.

Can lights and uplights cause no problem, but sunlight and hanging fixtures cause bad reflection.

At night - I love it.

My inlaws have a curved TV. I think it is actually pretty cool, especially if you're watching from an angle and not directly in front of the tv.

I'm extremely happy with it, and it was the same price as it's flat counterpart

I'm pretty sure theater screens are curved because of the projector.

Curved TVs for "home-use" is totally a Marketing Ploy.
Absolutely NO BENEFIT to the consumer.

Negative, well that may be a part of it, but the main reason is the experience it provides. Both IMax and regular cinemas have used curved displays for immersion, when you combine the curved screen "surrounding" you with high end surround sound it provides the best movie watching experience available.

This is why they recommend a 70" or bigger screen to truly begin to see the advantage of a curved screen, and even bigger than that depending on just how far back you sit from your TV.
