If this is not something done here than I apoligize to TD. Tried the biggest freelance platforms and I am getting duds or people from India and Ukraine. Would rather US resident person take it on. Not a big project.

Basically I need to mimic Craig's List private email relay system - meaning proxy email address is used and forwarded on to working business address.
So LesMiles@lsu.edu becomes something like xdd-fjht@craigslist.

It's a meeting setting solution for a particular industry. I found people who want to be contacted for meetings and willing to share their name and company but NOT real email address. Don't want to resort to website route of log-in and usernames.

Upwork was first place I went. One guy quotes me $500 which is too cheap. Another quoted me 150 hours at $4k and he was from India. I could work on price but he was projecting 3 months work. Neither had record of work history on platform nor Linkedin profile.

This seems really easy.

Let me look into it and I'll post back tomorrow

Do you have the destination domain?

Generating and mapping the addresses is easy, but I think the hard part will be you actually have to set up your own email server to handle the forwarding.

There are email service providers I can use that provide a dedicated server. Pretty cheap

This. It can be done pretty easily with postfix.

Yeah and that's fine, but I was thinking more along the lines of interfacing with the mail server to automate the creation of the forwarding rules. I honestly have never set up a mail server, so I don't know how complicated this will be.

Do you have an idea for how the registration process will work? Will users input their own addresses to your service and be issued a proxy address?

As above, I've never set up a mail server, but I've heard it's not for the faint of heart. Does postfix expose an api for easily creating addresses and forwards?

Group A wants meetings with people in Group B. Say the universe of A is 1000 people and Group B - the targets - are 10,000 people.

When Group A member wants to broadcast availability to Group B they go to site and fill out form. Name/Company/When/Where availabe and will be assigned proxy address.

A weekly list of meeting opportunities wanted by those in Group A are blasted to Group B.

Members in Group B who see a meeting of person of interest contact them thru proxy address but their own email is NOT concealed.

Why do this? Because Group B being able to immediatley and directly contact Group A is vital. Logging into a site to do the same is an added obstacle that impedes action.

Literally my very first ever surgical customization of an internet server was to thwart a POS spam emailer in 1996.

Literally.

You brought back some great memories, bro. Dude was pissed. And I still got those skills.

I'm out.

Kork - I did. One thing I do know is that there is no off-the-shelf solution has to be a custom job.

Basically I’m just trying to automate as much as possible meeting setting, which is a crappy but necessary part of the job. If I can provide a platform for people to do it on their own and cut out the firms they hire to do this I’ll be happy - Even if I don’t see a dime from it.

I don't know what your timeline is on this project (other than 3 months may be too long), but I may have some free time in the next few weeks. You can email me at my username at gmail if you want to try to work some things out.

Did this job get resolved?

This can be done pretty easily, do you still need it done? 3 months is way too long.

Not yet resolved. Yes I knew 3 months was crazy and others agreed.
