Has Samsung gotten their head out of their arse and allowed vanilla android? Or do they still bloat with digiblur or what ever is their flavor of the year?

I've had pixels recently and I actually prefer the current Samsung skin. They've also been churning out OS updates regularly.

I agree with this, the Pixel 6 UI design looked cartoony compared to this one, and you can get all the best Google apps on this phone anyway like messages and phone app which I prefer.

I completely abhor what Google did to the UI, even down to the AOSP level in android 12.
The entire notification shade, quick toggle area is complete trash. IE Always dark even on light theme, much less useful quick toggles etc.
Android 10 pull down shade was peak android.
Whereas Samsung kept something much closer to the pull down shade we all loved. They provide just as fast of updates if not faster than Google most of the time now, and they all are providing updates much longer than Google as well.
Basically Samsung is the leader in the software clubhouse currently.
My S22 ultra Verizon is out for delivery now. Super pumped.

Is there any argument in upgrading from my samsung ultra s20 5g? I am not sure I see it.

Ive had pixel 2xl and 4xl over the last 5 years. Can't say I'm loving the transition yet but once I get all my passwords and stuff set up I should be more comfortable.
Also, this phone is huge. Almost too much for me.

I am sure that I don't see it. I'll gladly hang onto my S20. If Samsung ever wakes up and brings back the expandable storage then I might pull the trigger. I'm not seeing the advantage removing it when the S22 doesn't have any higher battery capacity than it's predecessors.

Get a password manager like Bitwarden. Once you get that set up you'll never deal with this junk again. I swap phones like socks. I've got it down to science.

I used to be hung up on no SD slot, but not anymore. I've had so many SD cards corrupted in phones, I just dont trust them any more.

Question. I'm about to pull the trigger on new phones from Samsung.com for the wife and I. Will also get $250 in "Instant credit".
Is "Instant credit" instant? I also want to trade in my Active watch 2 for a 4 model, and use the credit to buy it. Can I do one transaction then the other and use the credit basically immediately?

I don't think so. When I pre-ordered I had to use the samsung cash right then. If you don't, it says you will be able to use it (I believe) starting 14 days AFTER you receive the phone. So it's use it immediately or you have a waiting period before it can be used.
***Correction, just read my email. It states the certificate will arrive 30 days after I receive my order.

Apps and pictures. And I plan on adding a bunch of music. And cloud storage requires a monthly subscription. Which I don't want.

How easily do they get corrupted?

Not sure, just know I've had several throughout the years. If I knew what was corrupting them maybe I would've had a better experience with them. After losing a lot of pictures, I stopped using them for that. I never bothered storing music on any of them. I started using them strictly for the apps and data that I didnt care if I lost. My S9 was the last time I used a SD card.
