Any free CAD programs that you might recommend?

I'm thinking about making some home expansion drawings (not for construction, just for me to play around with).
I used AutoCAD, but that was many years ago.
Thanks in advance ....

Not sure of any free ones for the long term, but you can get a free 30 day trial of AutoCAD 2021 Lite.

For playing around, I'd just go with Sketchup. It'll better allow you visualize the space and scale. That's hard to do if you don't work with those sorts of things often.

Sketchup is 3d modeling. But you could just draw 3d in it. Same with tinkercad. I just use a cracked version of microstation.

If you are looking for something free that uses the dxf format, there’s LibreCAD.
I use to use Draftsite, but they pulled their free version.
