any Ethereum miners on here?

Anyone have any experience mining Ethereum? was thinking of getting the vega 64, figuring:
1) I was planning a new monster build but need more time to save up for that, and this would allow me to game in the mean time (i already have a decent worktation, so just adding the vega 64 would allow me to game at max setting on QHD)
2) power is pretty cheap here in vegas, not to mention I don't even have to pay for power under my current living arrangement
3) According to this calculator and a hash rate of 85, it's saying i'd be profiting over $200 a month
For awhile back in the day i was obsessed with bitcoin, but haven't been following the new developments over the last several months (other than the fact the price has gone through the roof, which obviously means people are hoarding)
So ethereum's been out for a few months? Why is it so profitable right now, and any thoughts on how long it will take to start to decline?
ETA: also my next build will be my first pure amd build, I do a lot of data analysis and number crunching so with either the threadripper or 1800x so I'm going straight team RED for the first time ever. They deserve it.

I mine with 4 R9 cards. Get 120mh. Start at gpu shack with one of their packages and ethos.

At $200 a month, you probably wouldn't even pay for your dedicated computer for 6 months. I just don't find that very lucrative

I bought all of my cards used and built everything else real cheap. I sold a bunch of eth in increments of .005 on eBay for double the price. I just pulled the listing until I mine more.

Be aware of the possibility of mining going the way of the dinosaur as new tech gains adoption. Also, Ethereum may change to POS at some point. This would likely influence mining profitability.

At that point you would move to mining a different coin. Many have moved to Z Cash

I got one on ebay for 650. I know that's way overpriced, and ironically i already went through this once using two 290x's to mine dogecoin but just ditched it after awhile because my roommate complained it was heating the unit up.
This time i'm in a living situation more conducive to it, and worse case scenario i still end up with a GPU that I needed to upgrade anyway

Holy shite whats the point of mining of mining then? You could have gotten two 1070s for $700 and be smoking the vega 64

At this inflated price point, the only reason to get a Vega is because you already own a 4k freesync monitor.

I would check out other coins. Eth profitability is going down right now. I have 5x1070s running, with my gtx1080 running on my gaming box when it's idle. The difficulty level is soaring right now. I made over 600 for the past few months but it is quickly dropping.

Why are you using geforce cards to coin mine?

Because the 1070 was one of the best price/performance/power cards for ethereum

Basically what bluebarracuda said. It was the sweet spot for price and performance. The DAG increase really hurts the Radeon cards. Not sure about the Vega since it wasn't out when I was really in to it.

What returns per, lets say hour, in dollars, are you guys getting right now and with what currencies? Am i too late to the party for Ethereum?

With just that one card, you'd be making $50/month-ish after power bill mining 24/7

interesting.
is this due to a change in architecture from nvidia in the 10xx series, or on ethereum itself?
i remember nvidia cards being hot garbage at mining and everyone snapping up used radeon HD79XX cards at new or above new pricing.
