save any text attachments (aka pics) that you hvaen't just in case android doesn't back up the SMS that you want.

everything else is just a matter of re-installing apps and putting passwords back in.

android *used* to automatically reinstall all the apps you had before but honestly i'm glad it doesn't now. half that shite i wasn't using so why have it automatically dump a bunch of shite apps back onto your phone?

i always go to play store/my apps and browse through it and pick about 20 or so to download.

if there are a few i missed its just what..a 20 second download to get them back?

Coverage is so bad here(Both ATT and Verizon) that I hate not having photos and music on the device.

you trying to pull up full size photos while you're driving?

when i'm at home or out in public, 99% of the time i'm connected to some kind of wifi unless i'm on the road.

google photos makes it impossible to tell which photos/videos are actually on the phone and which aren't.

very well integrated app.

With both photos and Google play music, you can keep you files locally stored, as well as in the cloud.

Photos is really an incredible app. I'd venture to say the majority of iOS users are coming around to it.

Google play music, on the other hand, sucks... I can never get the assistant to play songs consistently. I have tried uninstalling updates and everything, but it always tries to send me to the subscription service. So today, I made the switch over to cloud player. It seems to be great. Just locally stored music, which is all I want. I don't need streaming stations and all that other nonsense. I wouldn't mind GPM having all the extras, if it could make sure the basics worked properly. I'll still backup my music in GPM just to ensure I always have my library available, and to use it on Google home

No microSD card slot on Moto?

ETA - yeah it does....why can't you move all music and photos to SD before the reset?

No idea. Never used one. I'll look into it. Thanks.

Don't shake your head at me

What's wrong with an SD card for simple storage?
