Amazon wouldn't just give in for a discount on taxes, if they did it in Alabama they'd have to do it for all states pretty quickly. This sounds like the kind of deal that might mean they plan to build a distribution center there
Amazon wants to offer one hour delivery for everyone so guess where the warehouse will be located?
Soon sales tax will exist for every state because Amazon can't continue to improve their product without a physical presence in every state.

Usually only if company has any physical property within state boundaries. They may have added a distribution center somewhere in the state.

Local businesses are celebrating, the reason they are calling it a "use" tax is because there is no physical presence. Alabama passed a law forcing a use tax on all online purchases, but it has been that way a while. Amazon has decided instead of fighting it, that this was a decent enough deal.
Amazon Alabama use tax
8% is actually lower than our local taxes which is 9

Came to upvote positive Amazon post from CAD. Also, states still need tax money, even if you're not buying your shite there.
State still wants you to report what you've bought online.
I use Amazon because it's worth not dealing with people for every thing I buy. But collecting taxes is on the government. Don't shite on companies for that.
