My 65 year old mother asked me to help her find some new earbuds. She had some cheapo's that finally bit the dust. She walks hour or so per day and would use them to talk on the phone and listen to music while doing so, so they would see decent use.

I have a pair of Airpod Pro's that I like way more than I thought I would so was considering getting her a pair of those. With the 2's on sale, seems like that would be the route to go, but $200 may be excessive for her as the audio quality is probably better than what she needs.

What alternatives would you guys recommend or just spend the $? I am looking for something that seamlessly connects (best feature of the airpods IMO) and disconnects when you take them. She wouldn't use them if she has to fiddle with manually connecting to Bluetooth, etc.

She does. Appreciate it, am kinda leaning that way - just making sure there isn't an "as good as" option for less money.

Whether she likes over the ear or in the ear, J-Lab is an outstanding value. Far more comfortable and much cheaper than AirPods

AirPods are great until they aren’t. Just like everything Apple.

Trekz Air is where it’s at.

Do they connect fairly easily?

Extremely. Once I open the charging box they auto connect to the last device they were connected to so long as it is in range.

Once they're setup, they're pretty trouble free. I've never had to re-pair airpods. And they connect instantly which I like for phone calls.

Actually, just bought this because they were $14.

If these are decent, I feel dumb for having airpod pro's tbh

I think we got him the model that was around $40. I remember it being on sale. I use the same ones at the gym and on flights.

I would recommend the Beats Fit Pro’s. Same electronics as the AirPod’s with A1 chip and noise cancelling but also designed to stay in when doing exercise/walking. Made by Apple so the quality is there and can be found for $150 or less.

Jaybird makes some good wired and wireless headphones. I still use my Jaybird Tarah Pros almost daily after 5+ years.

The AirPod Pros though are tough to beat if you/she is in the Apple ecosystem. They just are. period.

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up the Airpod Pro 1s for $119 from Walmart. Think Costco currently has them for $139. Search on Slickdeals.

I have the original AirPod Pro's and suggest you get her a pair of those. They are cheaper now since the Pro 2s are out.

Either regular airpods or the pros. The most important thing for your mom while walking is transparency mode. If you don't get airpods, look for that feature.
