4K Monitor slowing down computer

Today I bought 2 Samsung 4k computer monitors for my home office, but I have an older (4 or 5 year old) Dell computer. Once I got everything hooked up and working, the lag and delay was pretty bad.
Is there any way to adjust the settings on the computer or monitor to help speed things back up? I do not need a 4k display as I am just working in Excel and typing emails for the most part.

This is kind of normal if you haven't had access to latest firmware. One thing you can try is to flush the system via the power supply. TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF BEFORE DOING THIS. Then switch your power supply from A to B and then back to A again.
I use 4k for my spreadsheets too btw

Sounds like you flat out don't have enough horsepower.

change the resolution to something less than 4K.

Need a better GPU, 4K resolution demanding more horsepower than your GPU can provide. Requires over 4 times the power to display the number of pixels. Reduce down to a 1K resolution or bump up to a better GPU.
Ran into this with my virtual pinball cab when I upgraded to 4K had to bump up to a 2060 GPU.

Maybe see if it works before talking shite

This has less to do with firmware than the fact that it's 100% certain that he has a GPU that is incapable of driving one 4K monitor let alone two.

Maybe try not to give advice about things you clearly know nothing about.

There's no reason to believe someone like you over someone like me

Other than my nearly 13 years of giving solid advice on this board and building PCs since 1987 you are completely correct. Otherwise you're dead wrong.

Glad you admit that I'm right. I'll wait to see if my suggestion fixed it.

Lol, you gave moronic advice. The first question when someone has a graphics issue like this is to ask if they have a GPU with enough power to drive the resolution.
You? You gave some idiotic advice about the power supply. Give up while you're behind because you are clearly out of your league. Just look at the responses to your post.

Aren't you the guy that claimed to be the artist? It was clear your weren't an artist and now it's clear you dont know shite about tech either.

Agree with you.
And Just in case no one knows what a GPU is — that’s your graphics card and it sounds like it simply doesn’t have the umph you need. Look into a newer generation NVIDIA GeForce card are learn to live with the lag.

Upgrading often requires more than one element.
