John Brooks, Jermaine Jones, Bobby Wood, Jordan Morris, Pulisic, etc. all just grew on a tree I guess.

The biggest downside for me is Klinsmann's tactics. They are a massive downgrade from Bradley. I honestly think he tried to bring the possession game here and occasionally it's worked really well. But the problem is that he sort of assumes American players intuitively understand positioning when in fact they don't. We've always been well drilled in terms of positioning since Arena, and Bob was big on it too. JK's job was to transition from the low-block/counter-attacking game to a high-pressure/high line/possession game. Or at least I think that's what he wanted. His tactical history has been all over the place and it doesn't help that he's not the most effusive or articulate in terms of describing what he's trying to do, to both the players and the fans. He often talks about intangibles like motivation and hunger, which are things he values, but he doesn't talk about spacing or where players should play or how they should play. I recall one interview with either Bradley or Jones where it was revealed that they work out how they are going to play right before the match, which was why in some games early in JK's tenure we saw Bradley holding exclusively while Jones played the B2B role.

I don't think we have to players to deploy the possession game in all honesty, but I don't know if JK is the one to reinstill the low block game that was the staple of American play. What annoys me about that is that the counter-attack low block set was quintessentially American, as it emphasized things we are very good at, namely work-rate and athleticism, which allowed us to gain a lot of ground on the rest of the world. Other sides in Europe and South America have shown that this is still a viable option for tournament soccer. Hell Leicester City showed it was viable at the very top of the club level.

There is no shame in the counter-attack. At the international level I think it should be the default tactic because the possession game in the international game is so hard to execute. That gives us a tremendous advantage because we are more athletic than 95% of the teams we face, and it's really only a team full of freakish athletes (like this latest Belgium class) and some teams that produce the best players in the world (France, Brazil, etc.) who produce players who are both technical and athletic. That's the final tier and we won't reach it for another generation or two. But I just want to emphasize what makes American teams of the past effective (from Arena onwards), because I don't think we can execute the possession game for quite a while.

My buddy does this "buy tickets at the absolute height of the market 4 months before the game" shite constantly - it drive me crazy... but he's a good friend, so whatever.

I always like waiting until an hour before the game and using SH - it has literally NEVER failed me and SH has been setting up at events much better than they used to. No line yesterday we got our $200 face value tickets for $135 each after the fees.
