I get you want to win the Good Cup and it was Berhalter’s first significant tourney, so be didn't want to go with unknowns. However, when do y’all expect a semi-youth movement to take place? I just really don’t want to see an older Jozy keep trotting out there, a not very god Zardes, an ancient Bradley, an almost immobile LB in Ream.

It seems like we have so so much talent across the pond, we just have to throw these guys in. There are players who are 20-22 right now, and they’ll be 23-25 at the next WC. We need to start playing them in friendlies and against not great opponents during early WC qualifying. I think our team needs an influx of the youth not only for skill but for some confidence.

Like the three 20 year olds we had starting and the 4th 20 year old starter who was out injured?

And the slew of guys who weren’t picked because of the Word Cup

Weah, Pomykal, Richards, and Gloster make this roster if I’m choosing it. And Sargent probably should have been there.

Adding Robinson to that list... I just got over the stroke of Lovitz being our last sub when we needed a goal to win a final against our rival.

We already have. Our 3 best players are 20 years old.

Ok smartasses, obviously we have some young guys already, but Bradley/Ream/Zardes/Jozy. Especially in the attacking area, we have so much more talent. It doesn’t matter if you’re 20 or 32 if you’re better you should play.

McKennie played bad last night, but those games will get him better. Thrown into the fire and let it form him. Instead we have Lovitz and Roldan coming off the bench? Zardes for Jozy? Cmon, y’all know we have more than that.

I don’t want some of these younger guys first meaningful game experience to come at Azteca needing a point. I just think we have to do a better job at getting young guys across the pond over here. frick the MLS right now

Who are these 20-22 year old guys that weren't called in?

There's a lot of "meaningful" games to get experience from between the gulf between a friendly and a qualifying match in Azteca.

Don’t bother CWill and Guru are rays of sunshine that expect Bradley and Altidore to lead us to the promise land. If you’re going to lose, do it young and get them experience. What’s the point of having Altidore missing a easy shot inside the box or Bradley just running around looking fricking clueless.

Glad I’m living rent free in your head.

Altidore is the best striker in the pool. Get over it. That won’t change until Sargent reaches his ascendancy. Bradley is way over the hill and wouldn’t be starting if we had better options. He should be a bench option at best at this point but we have no talent between 24-28 so here we are. Also Berhalter and Arena both played him as the lone CDM and fans lose their shite when he gets run ragged. Tactically it makes no sense, but some fans just want to blame the player instead of the manager.

Only three players on the Gold Cup roster had 30 career caps entering this tourney, and one of those was Omar Gonzalez, who barely played.

Though I do think this was the last chance for the middle generation between the old guard and the U-20's to show something, anything, before getting shuffled off the A-team roster. That's basically a lost generation. The 23-29 year olds should form the backbone of the team and there are barely any with any significant experience. Aaron Long is 27 and he has 11 caps, for example. He should be an established vet, not a guy vying for his first real look.

EDITED: The problem isn't that Bradley is playing, it's that no one in that middle generation forced him to the bench and he's still a better option than all of them.

Were definitely lacking some players in the prime of their career at the moment but I think it’s a matter of a couple years away. I don’t think Berhalter is the guy though. We aren’t ever going to take a step forward with MLS players

It sucks but we arent a very good team with or without young players

The US lost last night because Mexico wanted it more. Were soft no fight our captain got choked last night and he/ we did nothing about it the ref let them play dirty and we didn't play dirty back.

If you cant get your nuts swole against youre biggest rival in a championship match then you dont have what it takes to win.

I know jozy and arreola missed to gimmes but we didnt have the fight to keep going.
Pulsic's awesomeness will be wasted

US needs to start club style soccer academy's like Europe.

Kids being coached by they're dad's after work, arent going to get it done on a big stage.

We have the money and resources yet we still fail

Ps i hate fricking mexico

Maybe I’m an idiot but I don’t get the MLS animosity. Arriola, Long, Morris, Zimmerman, Cannon, and Lima all played well this tournament. So did Bradley barring last night’s game. If more euro talent was ready to step into the starting lineup they would. Right now a lot of those guys are on the cusp but not quite there. Others, like Mendez, are further than people realize.
