Yes I've been out of it for a while and in fact wasn't even able to catch the game.... (and yes is isn't too serious, always go for the win) with the top of the table secured and bloody Mexico hanging in the balance.... Call up the fringiest of fringe players on defense and Rimando, play a 3-5-4 and play balls to the walls OFFENSE. Get tons of players goals and with any luck Panama will outscore us. Cap tie some kids, get them goals, Panama gets in, frick Mexico.

win-win..... oh well. We won. Mexico, you owes us now.

Guys like beck, Sacha, mix, Aron, and bedoya dont care about Mexico. They needed to play well enough to show klinsmann they deserve a roster spot in Mexico. I would feel worse for an American player who didn't make it cause of a bad performance last night than I would have for panama not making it to the World Cup.

Folks, here is what I wrote to friends on FB or e-mail yesterday. I have a couple Mexicans and other non-U.S. types where I work, and we talk football.

quote:

Sorry Panama. I've waited 23 years to see a U.S. team go away from the U.S. in CONCACAF and gut out a win, especially a win in stoppage time.

I've waited 23 years to see a CONCACAF referee "swallow or hide his whistle" as Courtney Campbell did last night. There were a couple that could have been penalties, and on other nights against other sides would have been called against the United States. Other referees would have made-up calls.

While I feel for Panama, and wanted Mexico to lose out, something no one else seems to be discussing is: this was a statement night for the United States MNT.

And that statement was made against a good side who had a LOT to gain, in their own stadium. It was made without Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey and a number of other "regulars." And I am thrilled with it!

And I still feel this way.

I honestly can't feel too bad for Panama. They allowed 2 goals in stoppage time and like I said in an earlier post they had a 0-0 draw at home against Jamaica.

Ditto. If they had just STOPPED frickING ATTACKING after their second goal, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion.

That was some of the dumbest shite I've ever seen.
