Seattle Sounders FC. It's got history.
If England can have the Rangers, Wanderers, etc, soccer teams can have non-goofy "mascots".

I dislike the monikers that are in a different language.. Give us all DC United, whatever FC/SC, thats cool. But unless a large portion of your fanbase speaks spanish/italian dont use Real, AC, etc. It reminds me of an intramural league

Wanderers isn't a mascot, its a description of teams that were willing to travel across country.
Rangers - mascot. Its ok, I guess.
Who else has a mascot? Arsenal I guess? But that one is totally bad arse because it was started by the Royal Engineers' factory workers.

And Sounders are those from the Puget Sound area. It makes sense.
There are a good bit of teams have a "mascot" nickname like Gunners. Red Devils, for one.

I wasn't criticizing all of the MLS teams names. I actually like the Sounders as a name because it refers to the region, not some stupid random crap that is loosely related to a tiny aspect of the city's culture.

No Arsenal is name. Manchester United is a name. "Red Devils" and "Gunners" are not names. I just wish it was Chicago and Columbus, for example. Nickname them whatever stupid U12 moniker you want, but don't make it their official name.

I was saying you could argue "Arsenal" is a mascot if you wanted (I wouldn't, because I don't believe it is). But even if it is at least it has real tangible history and culture attached to it.

I don't really follow. What I'm saying is:
Magpies = nickname
Newcastle United = official name
Chicago Fire = official name. That's stupid. Just be Chicago Soccer Club. Call them the Fire as a nickname if you want, but when its your official mascot/name/whatever, it makes it sound like a U12 team.

I think Nashville could work because they don't have other competing sports teams, except for a hockey team maybe? I'm not sure.

Do you have any idea how many non-cuban latinos live in Miami? In terms of a soccer orientated market South Florida is likely third behind NY/LA
