I think Nashville could work because they don't have other competing sports teams, except for a hockey team maybe? I'm not sure.
Titans.
I think ATL could support a soccer team. Enough international presence, biggest pop without a MLS team, fills the hole in the Southeast

Atlanta is like Miami. The "fans" don't support their teams.
Miami is probably worse, but the Braves have been there for 50 years and can't sell out playoff games.

The Predators are in Nashville as well, and I think they're pretty popular.

I have a feeling the league will stop expanding at 22 teams.
Right now there are 19 clubs, with one in NYC forthcoming.
That probably leaves Orlando and San Antonio as teams 21 and 22.
Chivas USA might relocate, despite adamant opposition from its general manager.

Their fan will be distraught.

Hopefully he or she will be able to move to San Antonio.

This makes the most sense to me

Turner Field is the size of the moon. I have been to a game with an announced attendance of 33,000+ (so, it was probably more like 25,000 or so) and it was like a ghost town. Only the Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs could even have a chance of filling that place out.

Went this summer. There may have been 15k there. I'm dead serious. It looked like the entire place was totally empty.

Was it 318 degrees? Yeah, they could definitely have a higher attendance, but there a variety of reasons why it is not higher.
Public transportation in Atlanta blows.
It is really fricking hot in the summer.
There is nothing around the stadium at all.
The Braves are a national team because that a large portion of the fan base is not just within city limits due to TBS and being the only team in the Southeast.

Oh, man, don't you love MARTA?

It was the evening so it was cooling off. Hot, but not miserable. Early Thursday night I think. It was right after rush hour so I can understand that. Traffic is a complete shite show in ATL.

Also, the most populated suburbs are a minimum of 30-45 away to Turner with no traffic.

Drive twenty minutes to MARTA station. Park and enter the station. "This isn't so bad." See train. Get on train. "Here we go." 10 minutes later, still in the same spot. Finally leave. "If not efficient, it's clean, and I haven't been hit up for money yet." Reach destination. Take two steps off of MARTA property: "Hey man, can you spare some change." "No, sorry, I don't have any." "*Racial slur*"

i think a soccer team could thrive in NOLA, it would be the weather that would kill them

The Jesters struggle pretty badly. As much as I'd love a team here I just don't think it would work. Then again, I know next to nothing about the MLS so I could be wrong.
