He also talked about eventually matching up with the european schedule

Tampa or Miami
They worked out really well the first time, and Miami always supports their sports teams
ETA: I wonder if we'll have a winter break

The venue where the rowdies play in St. Pete is awesome. Just needs to be updated w/ more seats and turned into a soccer stadium

They've tried in Miami and Tampa, they both failed. Fans there are notoriously bad about supporting.
Orlando City's running a great organization in a lower level. That will most likely be the Florida location.

The rowdies in St. Pete have been great.
Anyone have a ballpark figure for attendance the MLS is looking to generate?

Not sure.
Tampa Bay is widely believed to be option 2 because of the Rowdies' support now...but the league is more likely to give a new city a team first.

Miami makes more sense than the Orlando/Tampa market

Already had a team, didn't work out.
Miami fans don't show up to games unless their team is star-studded like the Heat.

Terrible idea. MLS needs to be in St Louis, Nashville, New Orleans , or Atlanta.

Atlanta or Nashville first, need a Southeastern team not in Florida.
Then St. Louis.
Then Chivas needs to move to San Antonio.
Then maybe a FL team.

It was also in Ft. Lauderdale, not Miami. And they played in a renovated high school stadium.
Not to mention soccer wasn't nearly as popular as it is now.

I don't see how any of those markets have a bigger soccer following than Miami.
Not to mention the comissioner said multiple times that there WILL be a club in Florida.

quote:MLS wants an MLS following, not a soccer following. Miami did not step up to the plate the first time around. The people there who follow soccer were unwilling to support the local team over their pre-existing allegiances.

I don't care where it is as long as it doesn't have some typically retarded mascot moniker that comes with it.
The Tampa "Rowdies"
So stupid. Reminds me of something we would have named our U12 team back in the day.

Which is interesting, because a lot of people hate the Europeanized names in MLS.
