How is he wrong? It's Argentina. Messi is a once in a lifetime talent, but great players are the norm in Argentina.

Well they've never won a trophy with Messi, so I guess without him they still wouldn't have one either. Maybe he's right? 
Nah but for real, they do depend on him at least a little. Look at when he retired last summer and tell me they weren't shitting their pants wondering how they'll replace one of the greatest players of all time

They're a top 3 team in the world from a talent perspective with or without Messi.
Sergio Aguero is on the bench more times than not.
They haven't really gotten shite figured out as a team recently, which is where it helps to have Messi who can have a moment of brilliance and create on his own, but his premise is accurate. Without Messi they go from one of the best teams in the world to one of the best teams in the world
