He also has a much better team around him to make up for his lack of movement.

He's also only scored once in his last 5 games.

Its true, all he has to do is just slip the terrible defending in the league

That may be true if he was on a team that gets a lot of scoring chances.

Just saying they could do so much better with $16m than Wayne Rooney.

The midfield has been creating chances

problem is no one can finish them

the team is pretty young just needs to figure out how to play together and needs a new manager.

well of course

but the move makes sense

he will be a star and make the club a ton of money

DC is pretty much the only major market with out a big name star.

He will get in positions you act like he forgot how to get into the scoring area. Mix that with terrible defending he will be fine.

can't wait till he bangs them in vs ATL

I’ve never been more excited for you to turn out to be completely wrong about something.

Bro, what

They’re averaging less than 9 shots and exactly 3 shots on goal per game — both the worst in the league

Their expected goals are a full 2 worse than the next-lowest team

Where are these chances again

His body also has been breaking down in visible ways. He's been playing at a high level from a young age, and frankly was probably overplayed. He's also not the physical freak that Ronaldo is, and probably doesn't take care of his body the same way.

All I'm saying is that his drop has been so obvious. He's still a smart player and can probably contribute, but his pace and power aren't what they once were. Given that, his best position might be in a free role as opposed to leading the line.

The majority of comments in here are inane and clueless, or patent wishful thinking.

Personally, I think he's physically trashed, has been for three years, but can do sufficiently well.

It's still an elephant cemetery league, but is improving. The comments about Almirón, recruiting, while making some sense, are also inane.

Some quality can potentially, theoretically, slip Europe's eye, but I don't think so.

I've got an English diehard arsenal club member friend, and he's freely admitted Atlanta fills his jonesing for football, but it's shite.

He's very gracious and not condescending.

Guys like Almiron and Barco didn't slip Europe's eye. They weren't diamonds in the rough that we just found.

Yea Barco had clubs lined up to get him

ATL and MLS just stepped up to the plate and paid the big bucks.

Even Almirón had been linked to some clubs like Arsenal. For one reason or another, Arsenal and others passed on him or didn't offer enough, and Almirón idolizes Tata Martino, and it allowed Atlanta to get him.
