Good. Villa is a great club and should always be in the top division. Lerner sucked as an owner, time for him to go. American tycoons are realizing the immense potential this game has.

It's like the NFL, you can make hand over fist with the TV money and merchandise/sponsors.

Except the EPL's next 2 or 3 american tv contracts are going to be huge percentage gains over the current one, which will only increase franchise value.

I dont actually think LErner has made alot if any money of of Villa.
The $200million is about double what he paid, but that is because they will be paying of the debt that Villa owes him through way of personal loans, which are rumoured to be well over $120million. Theres a reason why O'Neill left over funds, Lerner allowed him to splash the cash in the hopes of CL, we failed (6th 3 years on the bouce was actually a dissapointment given where we were in March of those years) and if we carried on we would have been Leeds.
They way to make money in football is to by a championship club, invest £20mil wisely get promoted and then sell.
In other words, nobody makes money.

I understand how it traditionally works but I think the value of clubs are going to explode in the coming decades

I can see that US TV Money will be abig addition, but its pretty much the last market that isnt fully tapped into, and veen then teams have been playing friendlies in preseason over there for years to try and get into it so its not completely new.
And as with Asia is typically the top 10-20 clubs that will make most the money commercially and their wealth will continue to multiply massively, your average lower rung EPL team though, after the TV deal I dont think they will go up masisvely.
Im hoping the emergence of BT Sport will boost UK tv rights even further,
