Since the host nation decides this - does this mean that Jamaica, Mexico, panama, et al all individually decided to put the US rights in the hands of a chanel that barely reached a US audience?

Yeah, it is up to the host country to deal with the TV rights. I can't imagine they all got together and packaged their home USA games. It would be nice though, assuming of course that beIN will eventually get wider distribution.

Thanks - actually googled it while I was waiting on hold with cox.
Another company called traffic has bought rifts to almost all concacaf except us and Mexico. They turns around and sold it to beIN. So the next Aztecs game is still open for bidding.
FYI - I talked to cox and they told me the best way to get bein added was to go to beINs website andclick on the link at the bottom about getting beIN in your area.
