We think we're amazing after Scotland, shite after tonight. I just think we'll know more after Tuesday. That will be a totally different sort of game.

The only thing I'm worried about (at this point) is the left back situation. And the center back situation if we have to play Boca out there.

I'm worried about our defense cracking under pressure period

I mean the center back situation is our biggest problem. I'm not sure its close. Maybe the lack of a goal scoring striker is second.

Hopefully we get back Fabian back and Boca and Goodson are at least a serviceable center back pair. Its still not a good situation.

Beast you don't remember the last time you were happy with how we played? Like, how long ago was Scotland?

I was on a flight during the Scotland match.

Other than that, I recently remember Panama and Venezuela. I've said it in a few game threads, but I just don't think were that good. We are a mediocre squad with a couple quality players. The rest of the squad is full of average players or question marks. Nobody stands out to me.

Can we please not go all Rantard tonight. We got 3 points. We started a MF at RB and didn't start our full "A squad". We didn't play great, but we got the result.

No, no, no! This is as good as a loss...no positives, no positives.

Gooch needs to be done especially with Goodson not playing bad tonight. Edu is not very consistent. I thought Torres did fine until he got hurt but I feel that was because we held the ball the whole game. Donovan and Dempsey looked good together early.

I hope some of the sloppiness was dude to playing an inferior opponent in terrible conditions but we did the job and got the points which is the name of the game.

We don't have to look perfect for 2 more years as long as we can grind out points and improve alongside the level of our competition.

A couple?

Donovan, Dempsey, Howard, Bradley, Jozy...

I thought Edu just played his usual mediocre style of game, outside of a couple of mistakes. He had a couple surprisingly nice passes and he won the ball back pretty well. He's just mediocre, he's just there to win the ball, play simple passes and let Bradley and Jones get forward more.

Donovan's passing was kind of disappointing I thought. Dempsey looked pretty good but he seemed like he was kind of in look how good I am mode, especially early, with all the turns and tricks. That's fine, it worked, and he is good, but nobody really played with much urgency.

Not really going rantard. I just think there were a couple of roster moves that may have hurt us. That's all.

This team played with 0 soccer IQ today.

Landon, you fricking moron, you are playing against a team with a fat goalie with poor hands. In addition, you're on a wet field and the ball is slippery. Stop trying to make short passes 5 yards away from the goal, AND TAKE A frickING SHOT.

Pathetic performance from the national team. Way too much sideways passing tonight.

And the Antigua & Barbuda team lulled the defense to sleep in the final 20 minutes. Sheep, I hope you can finally admit that Onyewu is done. He makes every striker look like a Brazilian now.

I hope Fabien is healthy for the Guatemala game. I want this team to skull drag those dirty frickers in front of their pathetic fans in their crime-infested shite hole of a city.

Gomez is great at getting in position but can't play lobbed in balls. we are terrible at taking chances at the right times (one too many passes or getting cute and centering up in front of goal with 5 players in your face.) and finishing when we do.

Our midfield is decent at maintaining possession and creating chances for our forwards, but are get antsy when they can't get the ball forward and end up turning the ball over.

Our defense needs time to gel and communicate, they don't always work as a unit and are constantly running into our keeper because they dont have that awareness.

ok we looked tired in the second half, they played like they have not given a shite the past two games, we can pass the ball to the guy standing next to you in the box, im tired of us going on the attack and then just stopping and passing the ball out to boca goodson or dolo. Gooch is done, he was good a 2-3 years ago, but that knee injury fricked him up. Jozy should be starting with Gomez coming in off the bench. Jurgen needs to find a guy who can play DM and take Edu out, Landon is pissing me off not being aggressive. Bradley was continuing with great passing. anyway i just hope we tie at least with Guatemala cause i don't know if we can keep up with them late in 2nd half. I think this is a really good team with Fabian playing Lb and fully healthy.

Brazil`14 here we come

If we draw with Guatemala, I will stop watching the USMNT permanently. Would be the tip of the iceberg for me.

I never really freak out about sloppy games against CONCACAF opponents. Anyone who has ever watched a US Soccer game against El Salvador or Honduras knows that it's typically a poorly played game. Granted we should have won this game by more, and kept a clean sheet, but these are the grinding results indicative of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying. Mexico had a similar result against an equally worse Guyana.

Guatemala in their shithole stadium with their insane fans will be even tougher. There's no shame in winning 1-0, 2-1 etc. in some of the most hostile environments in the world. I explained in another thread that the final CONCACAF hexagonal is probably tougher than most UEFA qualification groups considering the road environments.

Wow OVERREACTION much? Fair weather fan much?

Last qualification:

2-2 draw away to El Salvador

3-1 loss away to Trinidad and Tobago in first qualifying group

3-1 loss to Costa Rica

2-2 draw HOME to Costa Rica

2-1 loss away to Mexico

Escaped by the skin of our teeth at home to Honduras and El Salvador

Nah.

I'm honestly just tired of watching them play. They don't play attractive soccer and never really look like they care. And I don't have the same passion for the USMNT like I do for LSU, the Saints or Liverpool that would cause me to watch every game no matter how terrible they are.

Fair weather fan? If you say.
