Positives

Dempsey is in the form of his life.

Bradley looked great.

Lichaj and Agudelo at least really competed.

we didn't lose 5-0

Wondo put in a much better shift than Jozy or Juan. Give him the physical tools and he's a world class player.

Torres hasn't been on real good form in a while. I was just making that comment though because I dislike him, and I'm disappointed. The problem with sitting in a defensive shell against a team like Spain is that they compete against the best defenses who try the same thing and win. I think with a team like Spain or Brazil, as seen in the Confederation Cup, the US can't afford to play in a defensive shell. They'll keep attacking and get those chances. You have to keep attacking them with poise or they'll shoot at you all day. The key to us beating Spain in '09 was the fact that it was a full on attack from the beginning, and they never got to really pick up steam.

That being said, until Dempsey got in, it was incredibly depressing. Both sides of the ball were sloppy, but that's mostly attributed to the fact that half of the starting squad wasn't there. I do think we facerape in the Gold Cup this summer.

Lastly, Cherundolo is a top notch player, and we need to keep him healthy. I was really satisfied with how he played.

Dempsey wasn't the main cause.

Michael Bradley was a terror on both sides of the ball.

I think it was both of them. They both were on a completely different level than the other players. Both played teammates through on goal with brilliant passes and neither guy even got a shot off

Positives - Bradley and Dempsey

Negatives - Too many to list.

Lichaj looks like he could be solid, but only on the right. It was painful watching him try to cut inside onto his stronger foot every time.

I would literally explode in my pants if Fulham made a push for him. shite, throw 7 mil quid at Gladbach and it's a lock. He and Holden in the center will be unreal if Stu gets back to where he was. That really is a top 10 in the world CM pairing if both guys fill out to their potential.

I thought 3-1, with a 1-1 first half featuring our best players (including Donovan) and then subs getting romped. It was basically that, but reverse, without the set piece goal.

Our biggest problem (if Bob gets the back four correct, which as long as it includes Cherundolo, Goodson, and Bocangera and excludes Gooch and Bornstein should not be a problem) will be finding goals. 5 goals in 8 games since the WC is bad, and Jozy is out of sorts (not really counting today against him).

Dempsey and Donovan will have to carry us. Bradley will have to pitch in on the scoring end, as well. Set pieces, as always, crucial, which is why Goodson is even more of a must.

Positives: Dempsey, Bradley, Dolo. Lichaj and Juan have heart, at least.

Negatives: Sacha, Robbie Rapist, Edu, Jones, no chances for our forwards, Onyewu is old, and Ream fricking sucks.

MOTM (for us): Baby Bradley

Worst of the match: Tim Ream

Can we get Dandy banned?

And everyone gets to pull for Eire v Judas' XI on Tuesday.

Lichaj tries but he's a bit of a headless chicken at times. Just takes off with the ball and runs right into opposing defenders.

He's a decent prospect though.

No one agrees with me but I think Bornstein is a better option on the left at this point. Bornstein is awful in friendlies but people have glossed over the fact that he wasn't that bad at all in the World Cup.

Other than the fact that none of his posts make a damned lick of sense, why?

He's probably going to be insufferable for the next month after today.

He's a good option, but shouldn't start, I don't think.

I literally cannot agree with this. I know JB did alright at the WC, but he just really sucks. Like, a lot. He generally throws more suckage on the field than I can comprehend. I hate that he's going to start.

Agreed. And it would do wonders for them playing together for the national team, too.
