Where is Yedlin at these days with if he would still play for USMNT?

I don't think he has said anything since the initial comments.

But I have a feeling that if he was called-in, he wouldn't turn it down. Regardless, I'd take Dest and Cannon as RB options over him. Dest is Yedlin if he had ball skills.

They need to get legit first team minutes before getting a call up.

Agreed on Taitague. But KDLF is making Barca’s CL team so that probably deserves at least an invite.

Nah. Pretty sure that's only because they have quite a few guys unavailable.

I like this lineup. I’m also tempted to start Dest at LB and Cannon at RB if we want a more possession based style. If Weah was healthy he might get the nod ahead of Morris. I’m still not sure if I want Reyna starting but I’m also not sure who would be better than him. I think a three man midfield with a more defensive Adams and McKennie and Lletget/Pomykal ahead of him would be fine with Reyna coming off the bench. I think Long vs Miazga is kind of a wash.

I’m glad our national team is strong enough that we can turn our noses up at players making the bench for Barca.

Morris really just started fitting in with the MNT last year

What? He scored the winning goal in the 2017 gold cup

I still don't think Morris should have been called in while in college.

He scored against Mexico while at Stanford. That’s good enough for me.

It'd be different if he was a regular in their 18, but he isn't. Right now, he's still a guy that's just playing for their reserve team in the 3rd division.

Agree to disagree. He was tearing it up in the promotion playoffs and the Barca coaches think he’s good enough to train with the big boys. Our wing depth sucks. I think he deserves a look.

And then fell off in 2018, even then that was the "off-year" Gold Cup and he was not a regular call-up.

That didn't happen until 2019 when he leveled up in Seattle.

Between Pulisic, Reyna, Morris, Weah, Arriola, Boyd, etc., we're ok on the wing for the next year.

That's because he missed all of 2018 with a torn ACL, but he's currently playing the best soccer of his career.

I know, but I don't think that has anything to do with him getting called into the USMNT while he was at Stanford.

I don't think age matters when you're getting regular minutes for a champions league/Big 4 squad.

Like, if Konrad starts getting regular minutes for Barca, then call that beautiful bastard in.

My whole thing is that the national team shouldn't be a "prospect camp". Players need to prove themselves with their clubs before getting the call.

-Pulisic is out for only a few weeks.
-Reyna is getting significant CL and Bundesliga minutes (and will be 18 before we play another meaningful match).
-Weah is healthy and is back in training with Lille's first team.
-Arriola is 5 months into his recovery. Is running on grass again and nearing his return.
-Boyd is serviceable in the short term.

I don't even think we play again until October.

I’m just saying with the injury prevalence in our wingers I still think he deserves a look. Besides Uly and Reyna I’m not sure who I would call up ahead of him at this point. Btw 5 months is very early in the ACL rehab process. Soccer is really tough on the knees and I don’t expect a full return until one year out. It remains to be seen if Weah and Pulisic can stay consistently healthy.

Yep, and it's not like Arriola was fast to begin with. This will be a tough injury to come back from.

Throw Adams in there as well, and you can make an argument that those are the three most important players of that generation, which makes me want to jump off a bridge.

Uly is definitely in the mix for minutes off the bench on the wing. It was a camp cupcake friendly but he was the best player on the field that day. To me this makes his club situation a moot point

Because he looked good in one camp cupcake friendly?

At this moment, yes. He's in the mix for minutes. That's it. Not putting him in the first 11 or even first choice 18. But he was the best player on the field that day
