Easy. Venezuela is the Vanderbilt of South American soccer.

You want to start there, but Brazil and Argentina are more like the Alabama and LSU of South American soccer. We need to beat teams like that to be legit .

Nonetheless,

Kickoff, we dominate possession, can't find a goal, halftime, Venezuela takes forever to come out of locker room, 2nd half kickoff, we dominate possession, earn corners, we get taken down with various techniques no less than 4 times, ref no care, stoppage time, goalie gets hurt, one last corner, they forget to take down Rico Clark, he heads in winner, red card for random Venezuelan, final whistle.

I can't take FULL credit.

My buddy sent me a text in the second half: "I didn't know the Egyptian Lover played soccer."

I lost my shite.

My wife didn't know who the Egyptian Lover was.

lucky for you I'm a music nerd. He's definitely a generational point of reference. our only chances of anyone else knowing what we're talking about are people who did MDMA in the mid-80s.

I probably listened to more rap music in the 80s and 90s than the black kids at my school.

I'll leave this here for your perusal:

Excellent: Jones

Good: Brek, Feilhaber, Cameron, Parkhurst, De La Garza, Rico, Wondo

Meh: Zusi, Pearce, Bunbury, Hamid (not really challenged)

Nobody was egregiously bad. Zusi looked a bit lost at times. He did play a fabulous ball to Brek in the first half on a free kick.

I thought Zusi wasn't bad, but he did have some terrible plays. I am interested to see him on miercoles.

Excellent may be a bit of an exaggeration for Jones. He did play well.
