I don't want to read the whole thread, so can someone give me a summary on the game. I don't need to know who scored or when, but can anyone tell me how we looked, and were we playing "bob ball."

I loved the way we played against Turkey in the second half, and I hope that style of aggression is the way we go in the tournament.

I thought he was really inactive today. MB also looked a bit rough. Not a great midfield game.

the game sucked to be perfectly honest. wasn't even fun to watch. if i had to pick someone who played the best, id pick landon. he simply plays better soccer than everyone else. one touch when necessary, knows when to hold it up, and creates better than anyone else. MB does this the 2nd best for us.

findley and buddle cant hold the ball up for shite, and lose it all the fricking time. anytime our back line skips the mids to play a checking striker, they fricking lose it. obviously we dont have the ability to play that direct, so we should fricking stop trying to do it.

i thought dolo looked miserable up until about the time when he served up that goal for buddle. his crosses were some of the worst ive seen in a long time before that, and he was missing players that were showing to the ball way too much. also, i like spector better, so i am biased.

oh and ricardo clark is literally fricking awful. i dont even wanna get started on his play.

Buddle (X2)
Gomez(1)

We score. They score. We score. We score.

Looked good the first half except for the goal and a near goal. Second half we completely lost the midfield and started playing Bob ball. Torres never saw the field. If Findley had converted his chances, we could have won by 4 or 5.

We created several great chances playing "Bob ball," mind you.

Our strongest worry is defense. We were so god damn porous in our defense. So many crosses sent through unclaimed. DeMerit and Goodson better frickin' tighten up quick. To be fair in the second half, Hahnemann had a terrible 45 mins.

Offense: Buddle can finish. Findley shouldn't see the pitch the rest of the tournament.

Defense: MAJOR holes in midfield. This team will not beat England. Back line was better. 'Dolo was solid. Gooch only played 30 but was OK. Demerit can't tackle without fouling. Hahnemann isn't ready for primetime yet.

Overall, a decent effort. With Jozy, we should be good enough to beat Algeria and at least tie Slovenia and advance.

I'm not saying we'll win for sure, but we definitely COULD beat England.

definitely. I don't think Ledley King will have the composure and I think Glen Johnson can be suspect at RB sometimes. our counter attacking prowess has showed up in the past 2 games. australia's defense was worse than ours, and I don't expect England's to be nearly that bad. But if we can create at least 3-4 legit chances I have the confidence than Clint, Landon, Jozy, Bradley, etc. have the aplomb to put one or two away.

Also, with Tim Howard in goal, there's really no team who we have absolutely not shot against.

very true. I just have a dreadful outlook about our CB pairing. Tim is going to have to pull some preternatural performances if we're going to go far.

Agreed, but that doesn't happen very often.

Clark had a few good touches and a few good challenges. I don't recall him getting pantsed at any point. He didn't work to find the game like Bradley did, but I don't think that's his role. I think he designed to be a really shitty version of Makalele or Gattuso, i.e. don't get involved unless the ball is coming through the middle.

It seemed like, for the most part, the 'roos avoided playing through the center of the field and almost exclusively attacked via Bresciano on the left or hoofed it up to Kennedy.

Also, Buddle finished well, but he had the touch of a rapist today.
