Could it have been anything else?

Imagine Shea, Boyd, Altidore, Chandler, Williams added to roster.

How can you fit that much talent on one American U-23 team? And how do you fit Gyau, Shea, and Adu on the field at the same time? That is the important question, for me.

If Gyau is a left-footed player, I think the question is how do you fit F. Johnson, Chandler, and Gyau on the field at the same time. I didn't see enough of Gyau to know whether he is better than Shea right now, but I've seen enough of Shea to think he's not good enough right now. I'm sure I'm overreacting, but I pretty much only see Shea with the Nats, and I just haven't seen anything to think he should be a starter.

Under 23-s and national team are two very different beasts

Johnson is too old.

Also, we won't know who is better between Shea and Gyau until Caleb Porter decides that... Plus it's not like we've really seen them play with each other a lot to be able to make an adequate decision.
