Williams has proven he is just generally terrible on the wing.

My point exactly.

Do that, and I think you're taking Dempsey and Torres out of their best positions. That was actually the toughest position to fill for me, and thought having his and Shea's speed out there could cause some problems. Perhaps putting Gomez out on the right and bringing in Altidore might be a better option.

He hasn't offered anything offensively, but we've played well as a whole with him there.

I could see him starting at right mid so that Dolo would have some cover to make runs forward.
Would be better than what we had going the other night.
Fact is, with this roster, we need fullbacks up the pitch and creating problems in the opponents box. Both Dolo and Johnson can offer that, but given Jam's speed, the midfielders will have to be defensively solid. That's why I don't want Torres out there (at least not on the right). On second thought and relooking at the roster, you almost have to have Torres, but not on the wing.

My lineup:
Howard
Dolo Cameron Boca Johnson
Edu Jones
Williams Torres Dempsey
Gomez (Boyd)

But Torres needs to be a lot better than he has been getting the ball forward. This lineup gives him defensive cover as long as Jones/Edu cover Johnson's runs forward.
If I knew more about Corona I might have him in there. And if I knew that Spector had been playing well, I'd have him at LB and Johnson at LM.

With this pool of players I think we need Torres advanced and in the middle to hold possession and create for our attackers. Dempsey can drift in from the wing like he likes to do.

New thread. Wish the tactical discussions weren't in this thread. Now I have to back track and read.
