I just think Charlie's inclusion would have been an increased locker room boost for a team that has been down on it's luck of late. No one is getting excited when Eddie Johnson shows up to Princeton, New Jersey.

I will say this though, if Jose Torres is cut I'm going to cut Bob.

You can also see the potential cuts/camp battles:

1. LB - Pearce/Bornstein
2. #4 CB - Marshall/Goodson
3. "Last" CM - Kljestan/Torres(?)
4. "Wing" - Rogers/Bedoya
5. "Fast Negro" - Johnson/Findley
6. "Neanderthal" - Casey/Ching
7. "Flash in the Pan" - Buddle/Gomez

Settle those, and you have your cuts. Bob stated before that "16 - 18" positions had been decided. 16 + those 7 = .............. 23.

How many forwards do we need to bring?

I'm not really sure, because I really only know about Jozy, Conor, Eddie Johnson, and Ching out of the crop selected. Jozy definitely our "holding striker" selection. EJ is at least fast...? I don't really know the style of play that Gomez or Buddle could bring.

That's what everyone and his mother was telling him to do, though, so it's not really taking a chance. He would have drawn criticism for leaving one of them off. This way just lets him say that Charlie was hurt. It's the safest choice.

well, to me it sounds like Bob was in a lose-lose situation. Don't include Davies and you crush the hopes of fans who probably are expecting way too miuch out of Davies. and if you do, he probably wouldn't have played much because I highly doubt he would be able to inject life into our 11 without having time to shake off all the rust and re-acclimate himself to his own body after the accident.

Wow, he just went ahead and named every sorry-arse forward available.

This is pretty much a guarantee that Clint wont be playing forward for us.

arent these statements kind of contradictory? i would think this makes it more likely that dempsey is a strong attacking role in the upcoming cup

Yeah Torres is a must at this point. Has he ever done spot duty at forward? He might be quick enough.

Torres is miles better than Kljestan, 5 and 6 should be eliminated all together. Bedoya is much better than Rogers. Pearce has gotten better while Bornstein still sucks. They can both get the frick.

I love Davies, but if he isn't ready, he isn't ready.

Realistically, Bob will bring Jozy, Ching, Buddle, and Johnson. Surely he won't take Casey or Findley.

I'd much rather have Charlie as cheerleader with Clint filling the 4th forward spot if necessary than having Eddie Grown Man Johnson sitting the bench or, God forbid, actually littering the field with his lazy bullshite.

And Buddle is a complete unknown at this stage. From what I hear, he is streaky in the MLS, and the defending is going to be light years better in the WC. Not to mention that the few times I've watched him, he seemed to have a bad attitude. I can see him completely flaking out in S.A.

Good assessment. I wouldn't take a Neanderthal, but take both flash in the pans.

Actually, Ives adjusted his list. Casey is out. So I assume Ching is healthy, and probably included in the team already.

I think it's Landon's job to keep Buddle's shite together. If he's streaking right now, let's see if he has more goals in him. He could possibly compliment Jozy.

Maybe, but it seems like Bob wouldn't fill up those spots with forwards if he was planning to play Clint at forward. Would he really take 4 forwards and just keep 3 of them on the bench most of the time?

I'd rather Torres than Edu, because I'm Pacotard, but against Angland, we will need Edu to push some fools around with MB.

I agree, with the exception of Rogers and Bedoya. I haven't seen enough of Bedoya to judge. (Exactly how much Swedish soccer have you been watching?)

Good Rogers is super fast, tricky and has a hell of a shot.

Bad Rogers is like a smaller, drunken Sacha Kljestan.

I've seen plenty of both.

Robbie Rogers has never impressed me. Bedoya has impressed me from what I've seen with the USMNT.
