Baby Bradley is our best option at CM, but we don't have another center mid to pair next to him. We only seem to have either true DM's or AM's

That's what I'm saying. And if Bradley is our best option at CM when he plays we can't play a DM or AM type because Bradley is a bit of both, just not that solid at either. He is a decent distributor, who tends to give the ball away, and a solid defender who tends to make reckless challenges.

This season in the Bundesliga he seemed to grow as a distributor. I hope he can translate that to the USMNT.

The best bet is to play a true DM next to Bradley so we have a better defensive spine.

Bradley would probably be best off as a CM in a 4-5-1 alongside a pure DM and a distributor AM type because he is just kind of an all around CM, he's not a pure DM and he's definitely not an all out AM.

Or in a 4-4-2 alongside a guy that can defend and distribute but we don't really have that so I'd agree that playing a DM alongside him would probably be best. Against most teams.

Chad Marshall
Alejandro Bedoya
Sacha Kljestan
Robbie Findley

Above 4 for certain

Next is the choice of Holden, Torres, or Rogers. I believe Feilhaber is for certain, and those are the only questionable 3 midfielders left. I think Rogers gets the boot, and Holden. There was a reason Bob gave Holden 90 minutes, sadly Holden's match fitness isn't up to par. He did look pretty good out there though.

Last choice comes down to Eddie Johnson, and Herculez Gomez. I think Eddie Johnson actually makes the cut.

Unfortunately we have Pearce being the just barely makes it in category.

The cuts are:
Chad Marshall, Alejandro Bedoya, Sacha Kljestan, Robbie Rogers, Stuart Holden, Robbie Findley, and Herculez Gomez.

I'd be surprised and disappointed if Holden was cut. It would solely be a "he's not fit" type of thing because otherwise he's pretty close to a sure pick.

I would generally like to agree, but I really think it depends on the match fitness of Gooch, and who we are playing.

Come England it won't matter we will have a true Defensive CM next to Bradley.

I would like to see the US put in place some AM types alongside Bradley in some games though. We need some scoring help since we lack finishers.

Did you watch the game? We actually played through the midfield, and never really resorted to the long ball. Bob probably isn't the man, but if the team with all its starters plays like this, this game is an easy win.

I watched it. At times we played like a little league team with the spacing.

I don't know about that easy win stuff. Right now in my mind Jozy is a question mark as far as actually scoring goals, and the other forward options are simply not int'l level players.
Couple that with Gooch looking about 70%, Dolo looking average, and Pearce a confirmed bust, we are very thin at the back.

We'll see, I guess. Our goals were at least fun to watch.

Holden will make it. If he isn't fully fit, use him as a sub.

@ Crede15 and @ mrsmiller

I too would like to see Stu make it, but it's a numbers game come the midfield. And he really isn't match fit, which is the only excuse for him not to make the side. I believe Bob will not cut any Defensive minded players either, so that also hurts Stu.

Jozy not scoring at Hull means nothing. That team was dysfunctional. Even Big Jan (Celtic cult hero) couldn't score with them.

Who do you think we cut then, its either Torres, or Edu? I can't see Bob letting go of a defensive type midfielder.

Praying it's Bornstein. Probably EJ or Torres. Bob doesn't seem to like Torres very much.

not happening, no way. Just not possible

well EJ or Gomez one of the two HAVE to be cut

no he doesn't which is why I believe if Stu makes the squad then Torres is for certain gone. Bob doesn't like him, and he would prefer a defensive mid instead

We should, but if Bob cuts HonduraStein (hattip to whoever said that first), we'll all be surprised.

I think Holden makes the cut. He's a quality player.

we have a major dilemma on our hands. Anytime we play Bradley at CM we really don't have a good pairing at CM to go along with him. And knowing Bob he'd do a 5 man mid with there being Bradley, an AM, and an DM.

We lack scoring period, poor Jozy being all alone again.

If he makes it, that means Torres is out...

I don't see the connection. Well, I see that they are not defensive mids, but why can it only be one of them?

And as far as where are the goals coming from, Dempsey and Donovan are going to have to be awesome. That's the only hope.
