A source with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed that the CBA contains the first provision for limited free agency in the league's history, with players who are at least 28 years old and with at least eight years of experience eligible to pick what team they play for when their contract expires.
A source of friction had been the league's insistence that any raise for a free agency be capped at 10 percent, but the two sides reached a compromise by using a tiered system.
Players making over $200,000 will be limited to a 15 percent increase from their previous contract. Players whose salary falls between $100,000 and $200,000 will be eligible for a 20 percent raise, while those players making $100,000 or less will be able to garner a 25 percent raise.
The minimum salary is now $60,000, which amounts to a 64 percent increase over the previous minimum of $36,500.

Doesn't sound that bad for the players really. And depending on how popular the sport gets they could get more in another 5 years

Nice to see the cap on salary increases for free agents...I just think the 28 years old AND 8 years in the league stipulation is dumb.

You can probably only get so much done in one cba. Changing the structure radically will probably take multiple agreements.
yup
the next one the players will push for full FA again

Is the overall salary cap still the same? You'd have to think that there's some movement there along with an additional DP spot.

I thought I read somewhere that there was going to be a slight bump in the salary cap....not much though if I remember correctly.

I think the salary cap was raised 15%.

Well, I guess some type of FA is nice, but I don't think this provides any real or immediate improvement to the quality of play for the league.
