Notice we made a thread before the match day last time and lost.

Yet we make a thread before the match day again.

This is a trend and you guys are not helping.

By the way, I had a dream we took a 1-0 lead, but lost 3-1 last night.

As always, remember that kickoff doesn't start until 6:25.

Thanks for the headsup boss, extra half hour is yuge. Just need to figure out if it's worth ducking out and procrastinating other stuff over. Pretty sad that it's come to this.

So how nervous is everyone? I'm at around a 6, will rise as we approach game time.

Worst case we lose tonight.....surely klinsmann is out right? There's no chance he retains his job if we fail to make the WC right?

I am pretty fricking nervous and I hate it. This is Guatemala. Why are we sweating them or the fact that a fat 36 year old striker may or may not be playing for them? Amazing it has come to this.

I don't see how this wouldn't be the most embarrassing sports moment for the US across the board.

It's one thing to make the Hex and not qualify, but to not even make the hex would be an absolute joke.

News flash: Early starts for USMNT match threads have been done long before you got here, even back when the team was somewhat decent. Campaign against something else.

Yeah, I don't even want to think about what the ramifications would be for the state of us soccer should that happen.

By missing the Hex, wouldn't that frick us by making us start qualifying in an earlier round?

Probably.

I mean hell, does anyone even know the answer to this?

I think the only 3 teams to start in this round were the three teams that qualified automatically for the WC.

I think I've just accepted that we aren't making the WC, so anything more than that is just outstanding.

Washington Post's @SoccerInsider reporting that Steve Birnbaum will start tonight. He's had a rough start to the season, so...

Top six according to FIFA rankings:

quote:

Round Four (November 7 – 17, 2015 / March 21 – 29, 2016 / August 29 – September 6, 2016) The 6 Round Three series winners will then join the 6 PMAs ranked 1 to 6 (FIFA rankings as of August 2014) in Round Four.

Too lazy to see if that is how it has been in the past.

So I appreciate the discussion when you say maybe [DeAndre] Yedlin should play right back or Geoff Cameron should play center back. But it would also be helpful if you look back a second at where they play for their clubs

Yedlin plays RB for his club.
