Considering the new men’s GM position is supposed to make our next coaching hire, I’m a bit concerned that no one is stepping up and eagerly taking that job. The summer window will be the best chance we’ll have in the next 4 years if we want to hire an elite international manager. Hopefully someone steps up soon.

We might just end up hiring a top MLS manager (Vanney, Berhalter, Pareja, Marsch, etc.) anyways, but we need to at least give ourselves the opportunity at landing a big name. I still have PTSD from Joe Alleva’s “coaching search”. Our next managerial hire will be crucial for the trajectory of US Soccer after missing our biggest opportunity to grow as a soccer nation. We can’t afford to make a lazy Coach O hire.

Paraguay should be an honorary member of CONCACAF. They acted like total trash. The ref was terrible and should have shown some reds.

I really wish Supernovakovich would have put away that goal. He doesn’t look as fast as he is.

Man Tyler Adams is nonstop in the midfield. Sucks we didn’t get to see him and McKennie paired together but the future looks good with those two in the midfield

Saief is the truth

We really need a forward

Trapp played well and made a hell of a pass in the first half to release Villafana

Sarachan is a jackass for not getting his subs more minutes

I agree with most of that. The exception is that’s I think a win was VERY important for the confidence of all involved moving forward. The names we wanted to see most (Weston not included) got time and made significant contributions in a match we largely dominated against a side that isn’t a pushover.

I do see what you are saying, so maybe it is a difference in approach, but I’m glad he didn’t shake things up a ton and risk the result.

The GM position as US soccer drew it up has no control over the youth teams/programs/ETC. None of the candidates they want are willing to only cover the senior squad.

I strongly disagree.

I don't think a W was that important. I think HOW we played was a more important thing. Which I am mostly happy with. Great energy in the midfield. Good organization in the back. We tried to play the ball on the ground through the midfield for the most part. It was just a lack of quality and creativity in the attacking third that was glaring

One more thing I liked from last night - how Yedlin, CCV and Miazga weren't afraid to get in Paraguay's face and stick a foot in in retaliation as well. I like that.

And after watching the game last night and thinking about it this morning, there is no doubt in my mind this team would have gotten the job done in T&T, sadly

I didn't get to watch last night, but why did he only make 3 subs (don't you get 6 in friendlies?) and why so late in the game?

Weah looks like a very fast, scary mofo that will take your ball and your soul and miraculously cause the tv cameraman to whip that baby towards the opponents final third before you realize his dad is president of Liberia.

Also, Chicharito will probably have a crush on him soon.

I'm ok with it ONLY if he thought the other guys weren't ready to play an international match. Otherwise, he should have made all 6 subs before the 75'.

From what I’ve read of his post-match quotes, he thought the 8 guys he didn’t sub out were playing well and deserved to stay on the field. He didn’t want to make changes just for the sake of it.

I get his line of thinking, but this was the perfect match to give some uncapped players a shot to prove their worth. Happy we got to see some new faces, at least.

Then he had the wrong mentality going into the game.

Yeah true, but wish we could have seen Moore and Robinson a little as we know what Yedlin and Villafana are capable of. EPB would have been great to see also, but I'm a little more forgiving as Miazga and CCV are both fresh(ish) faces.

I'm glad Weah and Novakovich got some PT they both deserve it for what they have been doing at the club level.

EPB, Weah, and Hamid should not have been called up.

Weah? We have shite forward depth and he plays for PSG at age 18. I don’t see the downside of calling him in.

Sounds to me like he really wanted to keep that scoreline.

Shaq moore should 100% been given some mins. Robinson too.

But sweet jesus was it good to see the US capable of actually pressing a team.

I disagree but for the sake of conversation:

1) why not?

B)who would you have called in instead?

Pretty sure he has a grand total of 2 league appearances this season (both as a sub). He's also more of a winger than a striker. We aren't that thin on the wing.
