I just watched the game last night. It is crazy how our strikers are never involved when GGG is in charge. Always tons of possession but nothing threatening.

I've only made it through the first half but this is probably due to us moving to the 4-3-3 and not the 4-3-2-1 we deployed the last few months with Gio available. Greggs 4-3-3 requires our striker to drop deep to get involved where having a 10 out there will create that link between the deep MF and the attack. Now we rely on Musa or Wes to carry the ball 25-30 yards.

Also having a 10 will give us better chemistry on the left over the current "give it to CP and hope he does some cool shite" strategy deployed on that side. I like Jedi but he is very limited in the attack when compared to what Weah gets to work with in Dest

Pulisic and McKennie were awful.

Again only through the first half and CP is bad. One of those games you will get with him when he just tries to take people on over and over

But Wes created the first goal out of nothing with that beautiful touch and a looping cross and laid it off to an open Weah. Also later he started a move deep on the right and then drifted to the back post to head a ball back across for Flo at the 6. Flo probably finishes that 7/10 times

Was his second half THAT bad?

I don’t like Gregg, but don’t let that get in the way of Newbombii and Girth Donor’s war path.

What happened in November-December was totally unconscionable and positively ridiculous. Gregg was hard done-by, but whatever good karma he should have received from it, being the MNT manager should not have been an item on the list.

We are well and truly fricked until AFTER 2026. It's as if noone understood what Louis van Gaal did. I didn't see the match, but reading this thread and watching some analysis, this is going to be a shite burger for three more years.

I agree. Sucks that we struck out on 5 other guys before Crocker crawled back to him.

I mean, we definitely have no shot at winning the World Cup in 2026, but that was always going to be the case whether we hired Pep, Gregg or Newbombii as manager.

Gregg has some annoying tactics and fancies himself an intellect which makes him look very stupid at times, but I think it’s weird how no one will give him any credit for the good things the team did last cycle, but he gets blamed for all the bad things. That’s not how shite works.

If expecting better coaching is the warpath than I guess I am on the warpath. The idea that GGG has not even talked to Gio is disconcerting at minimum and idiotic at the maximum. When asked by a reporter in a recent interview about what formations he expected to use he said we would work on a 3-4-3. Everyone was expecting a comment about a possible 4-2-3-1 with an attacking midfielder 10. Our strength in the player pool is in the midfield not center back! What we just saw demonstrated was a return to soccer terrorism of Greg's "system". In the words of one pundit more crosses than and exorcist or vampire movie. Anyhow if Gio returns and Weah is healthy get ready to see one of them sitting the bench waiting to sub on as GGG plays his 4-3-3 system. The demonstration of GGG's stuborness to show he can win HIS way was on complete display.

He mentioned that in the presser. We moved to a 4-2-3-1 when Tillman came in.

Again, don’t let facts get in the way of the narrative Stephen A.

"The good things from last cycle". You mean just reaching expectations of getting out of the group? Under preforming in the Octagonal. Third is supposed to be impressive?

So you don’t think we surpassed Mexico and Canada last cycle and established ourselves as the best team in CONCACAF.

You love harping on the qualifiers but conveniently never want to mention the rest.

You’re just a hater who can’t relent on anything for fear of being wrong on anything on a message board. It’s sad, Gregg has done some bad shite and he’s done some good shite, why is that so hard for you to admit?

Because it is apparent that at least one of his assistants was just as adequate as him. His tactics stink. On paper we "surpassed Mexico and Canada" but we were third when where it counted. As far as surpassing Canada haven't we always been better than Canada? As far as surpassing Mexico they are in serious decline.

What a commitment to practicing a new formation. Tillman entered in the 81st minute. Very brave of GGG.

Do you not see your issue here? You just talked yourself into a corner by thinking BJ wasn’t just going off of Gregg’s notes.

They ran Gregg’s tactics in nations league.

You keep harping on the 4-2-3-1, go look at the formation Gregg run in the dos a cero win over Mexico in qualifying.

And what was GGG's primary formation in the World Cup?

Do I really bother you that much?

I’ll be honest, I forget you exist until you inevitably enter the ether, but the only time I ever see you is when you’re trying so hard to start something with me. It’s weird mate.

It’s funny to me that you think tactics are the same thing as formation. Do you think our tactics didn’t change from game to game in the World Cup?

Keep hating baw.
