i know he's kind of a cult icon on here, but how good/bad is joey barton?
i can never tell if his arrogance has any backing, or if that's why it's so funny

Newcastle list Barton as available for free transfer
Imo, he is a good player and his arrogance and antics only make people focus away from it. He plays his arse off and has a good cross.
With Gerrard hurt and Aqualani apparently still on the sale list I'd take him at Liverpool on a free.
eta: He would probably be more valuable than Jordan Henderson over the next season or two.
