Yeah, they will just make for an unhappy player. That money on the table could improve them immensely.

I still don't think that its a great price for Spurs but if he's unhappy its probably best to let him go.

Who could they find to replace him in central midfield for similar money?

Wonder how they'll line up with him in the squad. 4-2-3-1? Diamond midfield? 4-3-3 with him the most advanced?

Either way, seems Rooney would have to move out wide.

diamond I guess with young and nani on the outside (alternates with park and valencia) with either fletch (my guess) or carrick in the back (jones could feel that roll too)

and wesley in the advanced position (giggs, gibson, or park alternates)

and Rooney and Hernandez up top...with berba on the bench if he is still around

honestly, no matter how they start, eventually Rooney will end up playing out wide for a portion or even drop back some, the attack of United are always moving, only hernandez really stays as the striker up top...or maybe he is just so he makes it look like that

I really like Sneijder. It's a shame that I'm going to have to start hating him.

Carlton Cole to Stoke for 4M. Odd that West Ham would accept that. I think they turned down a 7M bid from Liverpool in winter.

I'll believe this transfer when I see the press conference. I don't think Sneijder's going anywhere for any price.

Evander Sno to Genoa. He had a heart attack on the pitch last year.

Awesome snippet about Pletikosa:

quote:

At 32, he might be said to be entering the final phase of his career, which makes a potential move to Celtic Park so appealing to him. Pletikosa played there for Spartak Moscow in August 2007, when a Champions League qualifier was eventually decided on penalties in Celtic’s favour. During extra-time, Pletikosa made several one-on-one saves from Shunsuke Nakamura, and he was so moved by the atmosphere inside the ground that night that he still talks about it. A Celtic jersey is also the only non-goalkeeping top that he has kept from his career.

A lot of players, probably for cheaper. Banega, Marvin Martin, Gago, Montolivo. Modric is a great player, but he isn't irreplaceable. He does an excellent job holding possession, and recycling it, but he hasn't shown a propensity to deliver the final ball, and for that reason, you can find a slew of similar players. The one thing that separates Modric is his ability to play in a two-man midfield, something that is especially hard for a player of his size.

I thought of Banega but didn't think he sounded like a likely option. Maybe I'm assuming he'd cost more than he actually would.
