Yup. Worst case scenario is an extra time game that we lose. We will have to play some of our first team, I imagine. I would love to get through this weekend with a Cup trophy and an advancement in Europa League.

Also, Matic out for Chelsea is huge. They have not been a good team without him. He is their most important player.

I'm now on the anti-Mason train again. Read some stuff lately that has got me back to my original opinion. We need to upgrade this summer, or at least find a player that can challenge him. Bentaleb is the real deal in my opinion. Mason hustles, but he is often out of position, and his shot makes Townsend's look under control. We often give up goals on counters, and Mason's lack of positional discipline is a big part of that. In Poch's system, the defensive midfielders must be great.

Again I agree with you, but at the moment I think Bentaleb and Mason are the two most creative defensive mids we have. In order to beat Chelsea we need that creativity.

Bentaleb is one of our best players I'm really excited for the next few years with him. He dominates the midfield. Mason makes mistakes and takes some dumb shots but he tries things that open up defenses. He just needs to be smarter about his decisions so he doesn't leave us up shite creek when he loses it sometimes.
Matic being out is awesome Chelsea are a different team with him out of the squad.
It's crazy our captain from the beginning Kaboul, Adebayor, and also Capoue aren't making the trip to Florence. They must have really pissed off Poch they aren't getting any playing time

THFC team today: Lloris; Chiriches, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies; Bentaleb, Stambouli; Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela; Soldado.
This makes sense to me. Sub Bentaleb, Eriksen, and/or Lamela between the 60-70 min mark to keep them fresh for Sunday.
I wonder if this means Poch is considering Townsend as a starter against Chelsea?

We got a pretty packed stretch coming up. This game, the Capital One Cup final on Sunday, then another match mid-week (Wednesday maybe), then another match on Saturday.

I honestly think that lineup is pretty solid. Chiriches has been pretty solid at right back. I think Stambouli could impress. I'm sick of Mason, so I like Stambouli. We all knew Soldado would likely start today. The rest of the team consists of guys who often play with the first team. I like it. If we need a boost, Kane can come on for Soldado in the second half.

We really need to find another defensive center mid this summer. But Stambouli may just need a real run of games to gain confidence. I liked Capoue, but apparently he is a locker room cancer.
