Like Everton but I kinda feel bad for southampton. They've been so consistent despite all the losses and keep getting raided.

This would be a bizarre move. But with Moshiri manning the guns now, it may not be as lateral as it seems.

Meh, I'm hoping it's just more speculation. I would prefer Emery or Frank de Boer instead.

Supposedly Emery was offered and turned it down. Koeman was 2nd choice.

Is Dusan Tadic part of this?

Looks like its a done deal now, announcement coming tomorrow. I like the hire a lot and would like it even more if we can pull in Monchi.

Emery I can understand, but FdB would be a huge gamble. Everyone is in love with his potential, but its just that. Potential.

Be honest with yourself. Search deep down. You know it's true.

I think you're seeing the matter through red tinted, Warby Parker glasses

I don't hate Everton at all. I'm American, I don't live in the city so I have no animosity towards the club. In fact, I wish them well.
That being said, I don't see how anyone could argue that this isn't a lateral move other than the ownership issue I already pointed out above. Southampton have finished above Everton two years in a row now. So if anything it's a step down (I don't actually believe this, I'm just making a point).

Do you actually believe this? Southampton has had a nice couple years and Matt Le Tissier was cool and all, but Everton have been better both in the recent past (if you are willing to use a greater than 2 year sample size) and well, going back forever.
Everton now appear to have a better financial situation to go with their bigger and better history, so it seems myopic to consider the clubs lateral to each other in any sense.
Not to disparage Southampton, they've got a nice little run going, but it wasn't that long ago they were in league 1.

As a Liverpool fan, I'm constantly reminded of the futility of living in the past. I try to avoid it. But even so, when is the last time Everton won a trophy? This isn't meant as an insult (Liverpool have won nothing in recent memory), but as an example of how recent successes are pretty on par between the two clubs.

Which is why I pointed out that it probably isn't as lateral as it seems now that the Daddy Warbucks is captaining the ship. And again, from experience, citing history is quite a dangerous thing in the present Prem climate. It doesn't hold as much water as it used to. Clubs now have tv money to compete on even grounds.

Valid point, but do you really think they'll be in danger of fighting to survive in the league any time soon? That club is here to stay, especially with that academy.
