Since mid September Haji Wright has played against: Konyaspor Alanyaspor Istanbulspor Sivasspor Faith karagumruk Pendikspor Gregg Berhalter clearly has a case of the Asporger’s So is it better what Pefok did since mid-September? Sure, the bundesliga is better comp, but he scored no goals while auditioning for a spot on the roster thay was designated to score goals. Considering we had 26 spots, I would’ve used one of them for a 4th striker, which would’ve been Pefok for me, but a lot of people are acting like he is some silver bullet, when he’s just… not.

Agree 100% pefok is not some silver bullet and we are picking between less than ideal options.

I just wish Berhalter would own it and say “I like haji’s skill set better than Pefok, particularly when I need someone off the bench against Iran to run his face into a cross and get us a miracle goal to advance us and save my job.”

To be fair, he pretty much did say that. On Futbol Americas and I'm sure elsewhere, he said it came down to Pefok and Wright and they picked Wright because he was in better form for what they want in that physical striker role.

Men in Blazers did an interview with Gregg and he said the three toughest cuts he made were Arriola, Pepi and Steffen.

He went into detail about Arriola and how he was in pretty much every camp because there was always a winger injured. Said it was the toughest phone call he had to make, confirming that it wasn't injury-related for Arriola's absence.

ETA: Having now listened to the whole interview, I suggest everyone else do the same. It's by far the most transparent Gregg has ever been in an interview.

Iran played CONCACAF giant Nicaragua in a friendly this morning and looked just plain awful in a 1-0 win.

We're getting out of the group.

Musah looked really good in his final match for Valencia before the World Cup. 85 minutes in the midfield and nearly scored a banger.

Which is why he chose Arriola and Steffen, and left off Wright and Ream.

Well he said form was a big factor in call ups

Pefok getting left out is absurd

He won’t get a shot until Gregg is gone, apparently not getting called up for the last set of matches really made him have a mental health breakdown and he didn’t train with Union for a couple days.

Why is it absurd?

His metrics in the Bundesliga are worse than what Sargent's time at Bremen were and on par with what Pepi's were at Augsborg.

He got a shot. He missed. He'll get more shots afterwards.

If true, and with all respect to mental health and his humanity, that adds more reason to not call him up for the biggest sporting event in the world with the most eye balls on him.

Haji didn't get called up to the last camp either, and all he did was bag goals and an even higher rate than he did before.

He scored all his goals before he didn’t get called up for the last round of friendly matches

Since then after a mental health decline he’s form took a drop

Bc he’s that big physically imposing striker that can do that job you need sometimes

But he doesn’t fit the system

Gregg thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.

Vs much weaker competition

I don’t have a problem with Haji getting called up at all

There are others Pefok should be on the plane over though, like Morris.

Man you need to pay attention. He literally said he picked Haji over Pefok with that type of imposing striker in mind.

look in the mirror Broski

You think you are the be all end all SME when it comes to the USMNT and that what you say shouldn’t be challenged

Why does it matter the relative strength of the competition when one dude isn't scoring at all?

If the spots were flipped do you think Pefok is scoring more in Turkey and Haji is somehow scoring less than zero if he goes back to Germany.

There's a fundamental flaw in your argument. Stop making Pefok some kind of weird scapegoat because you're frustrated with Gregg. There are so many easier ways to voice your hatred for him than propping up a one-note striker who got hot for a month and a half.

Huh? I actively want to be challenged. It's why I always get into it with you.

I like debate. Sorry that makes you mad.

And for the record, I've said we should've taken Pefok as a 4th striker in a 26-man roster.

but don't that get in the way of your rage.

I've been wrong plenty of times. Tim Ream for starters. Now, will you admit you were wrong on Turner?
