Spurs land CDM Pierre Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton

Personal terms agreed and last details between clubs then it’ll be completed. €17M to Southampton.

Sending them Kyle Walker-Peters and £3 million cash to make the difference

Move Dier to permanent back up CB and lets roll

Good bit of business. I watched his highlight video today and looks like he could be the guy we need. Having a defensive mid with a good shot and passing/dribbling ability will be huge.

I love sissoko but he is a disaster with the ball at his feet.

Yeah seems like good business to get an established premier league player in a position of need for about 3-5m when you factor in the sale of KWP.

I just don’t really know much about him, so my excitement is low. From the little bit I’ve seen/read he has a toughness and leadership we could use. It also seem Mourinho really wants him, but I’m not sure if it’s because he thinks this one specific player is the guy he needs for the team, or is it that he’s the best option knowing levy won’t/can’t spend more for someone else. It also doesn’t seem like Southampton fans are that sad about him leaving; which worries me a bit. Perhaps those feelings are easily explained by him not wanting to sign a new contract with Southampton though.

Fingers crossed he’s the guy that starts to fill the hole dembele left.

While definitely better than Sissoko, I think you guys need to temper your expectations of PEH's passing and ball carrying ability. He's a destroyer first and foremost (Think Wilson Palacios/Wanyama, not Dembele.)

You’re right, I just mean he is way more comfortable on the ball relative to what we have. Someone who can win the ball back and move it along to our attackers quickly is what we need and he should be able to do that much better than Sissoko who looks like he is shitting his pants every time he has the ball at his feet

Who gonna start the 20/21 thread? I'm way too boring to come up with catchy titles.

I'm way too cringe for that job, plus my Imgur doesn't work so I can't post cool pictures.

Højbjerg is officially a Spurs player. Walker-Peters headed to Southampton.

I really like this Højbjerg signing. If we can get Ndombele playing up to his potential a midfield 3 of Lo Celso, Ndombele, & Højbjerg doing the dirty work could be dominant.

What happens to Dele? If feel like Højbjerg and LoCelso are locks to start in the middle. Kane, Son, & Lucas also seem to have starting spots. Seems like it's between Dele and Ndombele for the 3rd midfield position.

Same. I'm really hoping he is just a nasty/disgusting defensive mid that does all the dirty work. I would love it.

As for Dele, it looks like he'll be a part of the growing depth chart. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I’ve started the thread for the last few seasons but if someone wants the torch I’ll pass it on

Otherwise I’m sure I’ll be starting a new one once the transfer market starts heating up

Unless he takes a major leap that's about the best Spurs can hope for. PEH made frustratingly bad plays all season and missed some gimme goals. Walker Peters was more of a game-changer in his short run.

I don't think Spurs are expecting him to turn into a goal scorer. He has been near the top of the league for the last couple of season in tackles and winning back possession. Sounds like you have watched him a lot more than I have so I can't comment on the "bad plays", but if what we're getting is a player fit to captain a team for the past 2 years at age 23-25 that can protect our back line for Walker Peters and 3 mill I'll take it.

Yep. From what i've read, PEH really didn't fit in that well to Ralph's system in Southampton.
Great player, but it was just trying to fit a round peg into a square hole over the last year.

I do think Spurs may somewhat regret selling Walker-Peters, but after screwing him development-wise the past few seasons they kind of deserve it.

Not sure how serious the rumors are, but if we can get 40+ million for Winks I would do it in a heartbeat. We would still have plenty of cover in the middle and need that 40 million invested up front or on the back line.

I haven't seen any of said rumor, but I'm just going to assume Everton.
