I still can't believe someone paid 20m for Danny fricking Ings.

He can play a nice interchange of small passes and movements. He recycles well. He does a much better job defending and cutting down lanes than most people give him credit for. But, he's not going to break anyone down. He rarely plays the great ball in to anyone (though there have been a few) and he completely disappears in some games offensively.
Very very useful player on your team, but with some big limits. I'm wondering if he won't play further forward this year at times and be able to run at people, which is something he's pretty good at.
You literally just described Henderson except added the positives.
Why the hell would we ever keep Hendo over Gini is insane.
He's been a good glue guy and solid captain but its time to move forward and not let it turn into another Gerrard situation IMO.

He's not Paul fricking Konchesky.
but yea, thats a lot for a 4 in 25 return over 3 years. Granted injuries but damn.

That sell on clause tells me that Klopp and FSG believe he will thrive given the right conditions.
Or that they are demi-god level negotiators.

The more I think about it, they likely knew Southampton were all in on him and just held that stipulation over their heads until they had to cave in the final hour.
Imagine being all in on Danny Ings...reminds me of a time when a certain team blew 35 mil on Andy Carroll lmao

Wut?
That's insulting, to Gerrard.
But I mean I concur it's time for a new captain... My vote is VVD or TAA

Wasn't trying to make it sound that way. Just meant I don't want to over rely on him for nostalgia purposes.
The last season was rough. We completely crapped the bed that season. Not Stevie's fault, just saying.
Some of ya'll are so sensitive.

United get that first loss of the season today too
Posted on 8/10/18 at 9:47 am to Baby Kieth08
Full meltdown mode if they lose today.

Jose has already made a laundry list of excuses. If they lose today it will be funny to see who he blames, we know it won’t be poor Jose that has to make due with one of the most expensive rosters in the world
They have a very talented roster and the best keeper in the world, it’s hard to miss the similarities with that Chelsea squad he ran into the ground though. I’ll be mildly surprised if they finish top 4.

Ok. Guess don't concede it was a fair point.
The question is, does Hendo really fit in with what we're trying to do?
To preempt this, I realize Klopp knows what he's doing but its worthy of discussion.

Besides the keeper and France Pogba, who on their squad jumps right into our team or City's?
I see a tough year given the pressure on Jose and discontent in the locker room, regardless if its real or media fabricated.

Alexis would start at city, and probably play a ton here too tbh. Lukaku is a different type of forward but we can’t deny he’s got a ton of talent. I’d take Herrera over Henderson. Other than that, maybe Valencia gets into our starting 11, but I agree that we are considerably better on paper. De Gea saved their arse last season, and could do it again...but I really see them and Chelsea finishing in the 5 and 6 spots.

I wouldn't turn my nose up to Lingard, Rashford, Martial, Bailly or Matic.
Their style of play will see them collect maximum points from the bottom half of the table and eek out points against the big 6.
Fully expect them to be top 4 again, regardless of Mourinho's lack of successful transfers.
How are we lining up Sunday, I'm going:
Alisson
TAA-Gomez-VVD-Robbo
Keita-Henderson-Milner
Salah-Firmino-Mane
Bench: Sturridge, Shaqiri, Gini, Lallana, Clyne, Moreno, Karius
Going Milner over Gini because Gini would probably be the plug and play CB (as scary as that is) in the event something happens to Gomez or VVD. Maybe Clyne.

I think to go to the next level, where we’re heading, Hendo is a squad player... I think he can play a couple of different positions, with B2B being his best...
He has quite a few years left in the tank and I’d keep him.. he’s the ultimate pro and versatile.. but if he wanted to leave and start somewhere, I would hope we wouldn’t stand in his way...
In regards to the captaincy.. he seems like he does a good job, but that’s not really one of the things that bothers me either way... whoever Klopp thinks is deserving is fine with me..

I like but i think Gini gets the start as a CDM bc i think clyne will be used as CB cover but i wouldn't be shocked or upset if i saw hendo there.
But yeah if united aren't in the top 4 after 8-10 games i think he's gonzo
