Xavi does not belong in the same tier as Gerd Muller.
That's a difficult claim to make, because Müller and Xavi are two completely different players who played in completely different eras.
I would argue that Ronaldinho doesn't belong in that second tier, because he really only had two or three years of world class play, before he opted for Big Macs over Barcelona. I'm sure the creator of this loved Ronnie at his highest, but ignored his dramatic fall into mediocrity around 2007.

I posted this on my Facebook wall and this is what the discussion has turned to. Everyone pretty much agrees with what you said.

Fair enough, but it seems difficult for me to justify. I can't ignore Muller's absolutely absurd goal total.

It's the nature of the beast, but goal scorers tend to more attention (for obvious reasons).

No Van Persie?
He's just a good striker, not an all time great. like 20th on the EPL scoring list still.

He's at least in the same class as Rooney. Was Ibra on the list? I couldn't find him.

He only had two or three years where he was the world's best player. He wasn't half-bad prior to that period, either (see: the "Three R's").
It helps that he was able to do it all with unbelievable style.

the "Three R's"
GOAT World Cup team, in my opinion. They had five starters who are on this list, and that isn't including Kaka, who was also on the roster.

Rivaldo is one of the examples of why I wish great players would retire when it's time to retire.

RvP has been way too injury prone to make this list. Up until last year he was somewhat of a letdown as a player. If he can stay healthy and put together 2-3 more years like his last two maybe he could get on the "very good" list but even then it may be a stretch.

Ibra should be at least in the third tier. IMO he should be second tier, but I have a high opinion of him.
Clarence Seedorf should be GOAT, frick ANYONE WHO DISAGREES.

How old are you? How long have you been seriously following world football? Not being critical whatsoever, I´m trying to get a handle on your post.
