The realism that is Football Manager 17

Even in 2027-2028 the game is realistic.

i used to love the game, even logged a ton of hours into 17, but i find PES 2017 to be better because i can actually recruit guys for how i want them to play and use them that way. football manager my players do way too much dumb shite. yes as a winger i want you to make risky passes, however i dont want you to kick it directly into 4 people on the other team when we have our entire team pushed up to support the attack, pass it around and then we'll find an opening. i hope they include more freedom in the individual instructions next year because right now its all based on the team approach. you cant even have an advanced playmaker that takes shots when he has an opening, its locked into take fewer shots. so you have to switch him to CM-Attack, which doesnt sit in the hole like a playmaker would

Do you actually watch your team play in these games or just set everything up and it quick sims the game?

yes, you can watch the players play on the pitch.
You will see some asinine stuff, i had a goalie, i think, stand on the ball and then fell forward and other team scored.
you will occasionally get a goal like this

You can quick sim but I don't. Only save scummers quick sim.
I watch the matches, but only key highlights and I will switch to extended if it's a big match.
I watch them in 2D though because it's well known a lot of the stupid goals that happen in the 3D generator can't accurately show what is happening so it will look like something super fricking stupid happened when it wasn't nearly as bad as you think it was.

Like a decade later, I'm still dealing with this shite. A world beating 21-year-old that came through my youth intake, willingly I might add, at 16. Now he's just going to rot in the reserves.

Any player with a pulse and can be lent out, should be lent out.
ZERO reasons to worry about your reserves or u-19 roster. Loan everyone you can out, especially if they have talent.

manage, buy, sell, etc
But, you can watch the match play out. I personally only have goals or key plays play out, rest is time running with a scrolling dealio.

I mean that guy started like 30 something matches in the first team.
And I typically do loan young players out I don't have room for, but sometimes it isn't worth it, especially if the clubs offering have shite facilities.

Like the first two weeks I played I didn't know you could change the highlights and I was watching extended. Took like 7-8 minutes a match

i try to do comprehensive so i can actually see where my guys are losing the ball and stuff to make changes to my tactics, but damn it takes so long
