Scott Parker and Gerrard is a much more tactically logical midfield partnership. Fat Frank sucked for England, even more so when he played alongside Gerrard.
Ashley Young is the real key player in these first two games. He's the only creative player up top without Rooney.

b/c essentially they were the same player out there. They never worked well together but thrived when the other was not in.

If England would have featured Scholes centrally, then I think they would have been more dangerous in recent years.
I just kind of feel like that is part of the reason he retired from international play (and being old). Scholesy should be pulling the strings.

They need to rename the Three Lions to the Manchelseapool team. Rooney, Wellbeck, Young, Jones, Terry, Cole, Cahill (pre injury), Super Frank (pre injury). Carroll-lousy, Downing-Lousy, Henderson-Lousy, Defoe-Lousy. The England national team could not be more flat for a "big" country. I don't expect anything but disappointment from this team.

England will live up to the hype because we dont have any, get out of the group stages and everything will be ok.
so true. Maybe reverse hype will do the squad some good.

I'd personnally pick Carroll over Wellbeck, dont really rate his ability as a lone striker and Mexes/Rami will be able o cope with him much better than Carrolls physical presence.
couldn't agree more. I think a lone striker has to be physical.

Who the hell expects anything out of a team that may feature Stewart Downing
is there any talk he will actually start or be a sub?

agreed. I actually like Gerrard alot. It's a shame he hasn't been healthy.

Brazil has a better chance of winning this tournament than England.

Big talk from someone whose team has not won a thing in 16 years now.

What has England won during that span?

England never lives up to the hype, everyone knows that. I'm just saying if my team had come home empty handed from 7 straight tournaments I don't think I'd be running my mouth too much.

MY TEAM IS NETHERLANDS AND WE ALWAYS COME UP SHORT. EVEN AGAINST DENMARK.

True but for such a small nation it's actually pretty remarkable the quality the Netherlands put out year in and year out. Respect.
