Hello all, been trolling around these boards for a while. Finnally got aroudn to signing up.
A quick question I have for you guys on here is how do you define the beautiful game? What makes soccer, futbol or football the beautiful game in your eyes?
There is a growing trend of young adults enjoying this sport and I wanted to get a feel for why people in America are beginning to enjoy this communist sport (sarcasm) over the pointy ball sport? What makes it so beautiful?

All of these are great answers. Looking for something a little more serious...

I get it, the game is full of sexy men, who are paid lots of money, like Drogba, who is too busy posing for magazines than working his way into the starting rotation. Makes sense now.

Because when a team has real chemistry and skill, and is really feeling it? there's not many things in sports that can match the pure "beauty" of it.

i watch/play it because i enjoy watching it/playing it
there really isn't anything specific that makes it what it is to me
though, i am a time nazi. so, i do enjoy knowing exactly how long the game is going to last

I've played soccer since I was 4 and since I got into college I haven't been able to play as much as I'd like. I started watching Chelsea this season and I've liked it a lot so far. Every time I see a great shot I just about jizz in my pants. No other play in sports does that for me. I played football too and I love watching a SS take a receivers head off, but its nothing like watching an in form team function like a Ferrari engine with the sexiness of Adriana Lima. The teamwork and skill in combination cannot be matched by any other sport.

Kun Agüero
That is all.
That is all.

I've got to admit, even though for me it's American football first, there is nothing like watching Lionel Messi dribble through 4 defenders in the box and cheekily flick the ball over the keeper. Or, conversely, watching Ya Ya Toure blast the ball from 35 yards out but still, there is not a damn thing the goalkeeper can do about it.

Well said. The only one even close is basketball, but 90% of the players are physical freaks. What sport has a best player that is 5'7" and 150lbs dripping wet?
