- The package going to Chievo has been jostled a bit, with a little less cash, half-ownership of Adrian Stoian and a Leandro Greco loan on the table last. Why the offer shuffle? I'm not 100% certain, but I do know that competing offers tend to force a bump up.
That package is a significant bump down from the initial rumors that had Roma paying around €3,5 million plus complete ownership of Greco and Giammario Piscitella (who I never thought was going anywhere except on loan).

Some comments from Sabatini in his press conference today:
Osvaldo: "Roma non venderà Osvaldo. E' incedibile"
"Osvaldo is not for sale. He's incredible."
Good news as rumors were swirling about Malaga making an offer if, perhaps, Zeman didn't rate him as highly.
Kjaer: "Non riscatterà Kjaer. Ho avuto paura per lui che poi il primo errore sarebbe diventato tombale quindi ho preferito rinunciare".
"We won't take the buyout option on Kjaer. I was afraid that his first error would become debilitating, so I preferred to let him go."
I hate to see Kjaer go since I just liked having him on the club. However, that he was a nervous wreck most of last season is certainly true. He probably needs to go to a club with less pressure.
Bradley: "C'è un lavoro ben avviato: è un giocatore pragmatico, sa voler vincere le partite"
"This deal is progressing nicely. He's a pragmatic player that knows what it takes to win matches."
Tachtsidis: "E' una scelta di Zeman: mi ha detto 'Io prendo questo ragazzo e lo trasformo in un campione'. Cercheremo di prenderlo".
"He's Zeman's choice: he said to me 'I'll take this kid and make a champion'. We're trying to get him."

19.27 BST - Fresh from Copa Libertadores success, Corinthians defender Leandro Castan has confirmed he is set to join Roma in the coming days. "Everything is settled with Roma," Castan told Radio Bandeirantes.
Looks like Roma is about to sign a 25 year old Brazilian center back defender.

I always wanted to see him at LFC... and we looked at him a few times. I thought he'd do well playing next to Agger. I think those days have passed, but he is still young.
(He'd also fit in with our tatted up defenders)

The rumors about Castan signing have been strong for a while. I'm not too familiar with him though. We desperately need upgrades everywhere along the backline, especially some pace and size at CB to pair with Burdisso + whoever wins some minutes on the current roster.

Kjaer is just one those players for appearance and personality on the pitch that it's hard not to like. He really seemed a bad fit for the attacking/pressing/high line style but showed a tom of potential at times. I'd be happy if Liverpool bought him but after having been kind of shuffled out unceremoniously by Roma he may have to prove himself at a smaller club. He did look good at the Euros though.

For Zeman, attacking football means a few weeks of wind sprints carrying sandbags.
Hope this will convince a few of the Sensi-era overpriced veterans refusing transfers to rethink.
Also:
Michael Bradley deal is supposedly down to "last details" after he passed physical yesterday. Same for the 21yo regista Panagiotis Tachtsidis from Hellas Verona that Zeman seems to hold in such high regard.

Thanks for the continued updates
I plan on following the club closely next season, as I imagine many others here will, and you sharing so much of your knowledge about Zeman and Roma is definitely appreciated

I enjoy it.
The Corriere reported the final deal seems to be €3.6 million and half-ownership of Adrian Stoian and Leandro Greco to Chievo for Bradley. So, that's probably just under €5 million value to Chievo; some more if Stoian blossoms.
You never know how these will drag out but it seems that he's expected at training camp Monday.
I didn't follow the minute details of Bradley's negotiations with Chievo last year so I'm not sure which side pushed more for the 2 year deal. Wise in retrospect if it was Bradley's agent but Chievo must be kicking themselves if he would've signed a longer deal.

AS Roma Transfer Rumor Update:
Ivan Piris (23 year old Paraguayan RB from Sao Paolo): rumors are that he may forgo a Sevilla offer to move to Roma.
There's also been a lot of rumors swirling about Sebastian Jung Eintracht Frankfurt but it seems that Piris is the first choice.
I hope this ends rumors about Boswinga as a stop-gap solution. Supposedly there was some interest but he demanded over €3 million per year. That's the kind of "help" that kills you in the long run unless you're a Chelsea or Real Madrid. Better he help unbalance the books elsewhere.
Michael Bradley: the move stills seems inevitable but not yet finalized. I hope both sides hurry as Bradley's already missed the first week of camp.
I'd mentioned Bradley's main competition for PT being more from all the talented youth Roma has than some of the bigger named veterans. On that note, Alessandro Florenzi (21 year old attacking midfielder who was named Serie B Young Player of the Year last season on his loan spell) impressed with 3 assists and a goal in Roma's friendly yesterday.

Liverpool are after Borini.
Liverpool are after Borini.
quote:
There is a real interest shown by Liverpool for Borini,' sporting director Walter Sabatini said during a press conference in Roma's pre-training camp in Riscone.
'We are evaluating the situation with (Roma general manager) Franco (Baldini).'

There's fire to go along with smoke here it seems. Roma are competing with Juventus to sign Mattia Destro and word is that Zeman prefers him to Borini and is the one who's pushing the deal. I can understand it in that Destro probably has a higher ceiling but Borini is a very good player that makes up for not being absolutely elite with his touch/dribbling by intelligent movement etc. Borini also gives every bit as much effort in pressing as attacking which is why Roma fans have taken to him so passionately.
I'm thinking that the way things stand, if Roma can sign Destro they'll let Borini go to Liverpool so remainder of the €30 or so million transfer budget can to go toward the backline instead of what's already a fairly stacked attack.
I guess such is life when clubs don't have the budget of a Real Madrid but it kind of sucks to not be able to keep both.
Also on Michael Bradley: still seems this deal is imminent but the holdup is that one of the players headed to Chievo, Leandro Greco, doesn't want to leave Roma. However, it sucks that Bradley is missing so much time in training.

Tough titties... you're a professional soccer player.

I don't follow other teams closely enough to know how common this is with some bigger clubs but Roma has a real problem with players that would seemingly prefer to sit on the bench at Roma that accept transfers. It's not just one or two players here and there but seemingly every single one the new management has tried to move or loan the last two years.
A few of these are over payed veterans that the previous DS Prade brought in but it's also seemingly an issue with most of the players like Greco that came up through the Roma youth system. It's great in one way that they have a La Masia product-like loyalty to the club but it seems to derail half the deals the club tries to make.

Greco is a good player.
I agree. Though I kind of see him as much more of a solid second choice for an upper echelon team whereas he can be an everyday player at a mid table club like Chievo.
What do you think of Bradley at Roma? I'm obviously excited but not sure how much of it is him being American and probably my favorite USMNT player at that. It's certainly going his time to shine or falter on the big stage if Greco moves on and it's just him against some of the 19-21 year olds like Florenzi for the regista role.

Ha, everytime I read "Destro" I think the same thing. I also imagine Hulk as a big green guy.
