re: Take the top 3 teams in the MLS and put them in the Premier League - how do they fare?

Once you consider how much they would need to change, it's not like they'd really be an "MLS team" anymore.
That's a good point. MLS teams have plenty of physicality, and I think a team can become well-drilled enough in the low-block that they could stifle a lot of what the bigger teams try to do. But how would they do in transition? Would they have an outlet? They would have to live by the low-block and set-pieces. That's always a recipe for flirting with relegation.

We are talking about with current squads
Are we talking current managers too? It would be hard to resist the allure of a Big Sam team, if you are assured that you will be relegation fodder.

This is flawed, because if the top 3 in MLS went to EPL, they would make several purchases to try and compete. Rosters would be different.
With the rosters they have, they would be fighting to get out of relegation. 2 of 3 would drop, with a 3rd fighting to stay up.

This is 100% correct and I can’t think of anything to add or argue.

Admittedly I’m an FCD fan, so I’m biased.
But.. no idea why people think the other two would do better. FCD is probably built the best to play strong defense and counter.
AUFC might give up a record number of goals.
Do the MLS teams get home games in the states and travel for away games? Because all three have some pretty substantial home field advantages.
AUFC - crowd, artificial turf
NYCFC - field/stadium oddities
FCD - superb home record

English teams would refuse to play on that stuff

Looks like Atlanta United would stay up then if they got 51 free points from the 17 PL teams who refused to play on turf.

Then no. You are handcuffing them compared to every other team that has been able to stay up.

lol no
the game isn't meant to be played on fake grass
hence why FIFA won't allow in the world cup and no top league does it either.

Um wtf are you smoking bc it’s the truth
Yea it’s ok to practice on fake grass and shite
But competitive soccer isn’t supposed to be played on a plastic pitch
It changes the game significantly just the way the ball moves and bounces
